Heyo! So I've been a digital artist for years and was briefly into traditional art but thanks to my shaky hands and poor art knowledge I steered away pretty fast. However I've recently been working on my traditional art a lot and am falling in love all over again...buuuut I would like some suggestions on what sort of inking pens you guys like to use!
Right now I'm using the Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pens and I love them because they are wide and easy to grip. but I'd like to hear some other suggestions from other traditional artists! I do character designs and anime/manga so keep that in mind when thinking about the type of inking I am doing C:
(also...was thinking about starting a forum group for artist advice pinging so people in this forum area get answers a bit faster...would you guys be interested in that sort of thing? )
I've used pentel pocket brush pens for inking because I like the varied line you can get with them. There is a bit of a learning curve to figure out angle and all that, but they're really fun to use.
Here's a youtube video of someone using one just so you can get an idea of what it's like to use one. It takes ink cartridges though so you'll have to buy separate cartridges to re-fill though which does add up, but I have seen hacks where people use syringes to re-fill the cartridges with india ink though if you'd prefer to re-fill the cartridges on your own.
If you prefer straight ink, and not inking over pencil there's also fountain pens. I have a fountain pen that I use with a thinner nib for just straight ink artwork, also dip pens.
