I'm surprised no one here is talking about Disney's remake of Beauty and The Beast. It was so good. I really appreciate how well they turned my favorite Disney princess from animation to live action in the form of the lovely Emma Watson. I do feel like the joke of Gaston was lost in translation since he's supposed to be such a large, thick man. But I still loved this movie. Every bit of it.
Beast's new song Evermore KILLED me. My heart. Ugh.
It was better than I expected it to be from the atrocious imdb reviews. My two let-downs? Belle's gown and Emma Watson's stiff acting as Belle
otherwise great movie :3
I loved the movie (though I might be a bit biased since my brother played Beast in his last year of high school's musical), though I still wished they incorporated the Broadway songs in it.
oh yes the Beast's song is lovely. I also liked Maurice's little tune he sang in his workshop.
good thing I don't look at movie reviews or I may have went in a little worried. However, all I had been exposed to was the movie trailer which made my heart EXPLODE with happiness- I couldn't wait to see it! What was wrong with Belle's gown? I thought it was lovely!
I'm not familiar with the Broadway version but I suppose I would have liked to have heard those songs in the movie as well!
yeah they were kinda bad :x made me almost not wanna go but I'm glad I went, imdb reviews can go suck it lol
Belle's gown was pretty but too modern, you had the Beast dress up in classy clothes for the period and Belle's gown was so ... plain ish without the big poof at the bottom or the side sleeves, blah (though A+ scene with putting it together)
I feel like the dress was a little too yellow. :O Like the original was meant to be more gold than yellow, and then the live action version was more of a buttercup color. Also, I would have liked the skirt to have more of a hoop to it. However, the film was done soooooo well, and actually, I think Emma Watson was the perfect choice to be Belle. :O I think the prince could have been way more handsome, though...

I must admit I'm a sucker for the oldskool Disney movies, but the remake is pretty alright! It's quite different from the original version and even more of a musical, but they did good!
That was very musical. I'm not one for musical movies so I was pretty much neutral about those scenes. I've found the decors to be absolutely beautiful (espcially the castle!!) I've found Emma Watson to be rather stiff in her acting. I've felt like her movements were very calculated and crips, while Belle is much more of a "free heart" and a daydreamer. Overall, it was really good.
i thoroughly enjoyed it...except the remake of the theme by John Legend and Ariana Grande...can't stand that version.

I absolutely adored the film, but agree 100% about the remake of the theme. They should've just recycled the original, because it's perfection. But everything else? Perfection. The cast was wonderful, cinematography was wonderful... I really can't say enough about it. Beast's new song had me sobbing like a baby, and UGH. I can't wait to watch it again. So, so good.
Am I the only one who didn't like it? My friend hyped it up so much. Emma was so dull and kinda boring in her Belle portrayal, the "Belle" scene fell so flat for me and it's my favorite part of the original movie. I thought the Beast could have been more handsome, but that is my personal preference. The appliances were very creepy to me and were not cute imo, didn't get the same awww feeling from chip I originally got.
It was ok, but I was generally disappointed after my friend said she was in love with it. Glad I didn't see it in the theatres.
I saw this the other day, and it was surprisingly good. I like how they fixed some of the plot holes from the animated film, such as the mention of "Ten years" in Be Our Guest being changed to "Too long," and no mention of the curse lasting "Until his 21st year." I also liked how it explained about what happened to Belle's mother, and the reason behind the "Since the morning that we came" line in the town song that made me curious. I admit the yellow dress did look a bit out of place, but other than that I was quite pleased.
I enjoyed it. It was quite entertaining how exact some scenes were. I liked especially the Beast/prince and Lafou. Evermore was so haunting. Dan Stevens was already a favorite of mine from Downton Abbey.

Everyone dislikes the new songs they added in but I love them??? When I saw Josh Groban had covered Evermore I almost lost it aaa The beast's cgi looks so nice- and I love the "be our guest" scene :'3 Such pretty animation, but poor Belle didn't have a bite to eat! which made it almost funny...
I thought it was fantastic; I'm not too big on Disney's live action stuff in general but I felt like this one was just so much better than their average live action movies.
I'm actually really glad that they didn't try to "copy" the animated version, and that they made certain characters and scenes very different. I know of many who do not share that opinion but to be honest if they'd just tried to make it as close to the animated version as possible then I don't think I'd have been interested. I especially liked all the extra details we had on characters' backstories and relationships with one another!

I thought Emma Watson did great, and I liked the plot nuggets that they added to sort of fill the holes in the story. I think most of the actors did well. However...
That song where Beast is running up to the top of the tower and singing when Belle is running away? It's ridiculous the way he runs up to the top of the tower, then pauses to sing, then oh wait no we're not actually at the top of the tower, let me run up another flight of stairs, then pause at the top of the tower to sing, no wait we're not at the top of the tower, run up another flight of starts... how tall is this freaking tower anyway?
I thought the cinematography was flat and somewhat uncreative in live action, but worse when we get to the CG bits. Blurry and moving too fast to let you focus on anything. Be My Guest should've been spectacular, but it was just flat and stiff.
And yeah Gaston should've been a much bigger dude.
Just in general, with all that Disney dollars, I expected a lot better. That's not to say I didn't like it, I did, I just wanted to love it.
Shoutout to the actor who plays the Prince who is the same guy who plays the main character in Legion - an amazing show and a weird choice for a Prince, but I love him.
I not sure whether or not I actually like this film but I am glad they tried to fix the plot hole about why nobody knew that the castle even existed at least and showing the prince before the curse to prove he wasn't a kid was a relief, although there are still things about the world they've created that still don't add up.

I liked the movie but I preferred the cartoon version better.
I honestly don't see any point in this movie. It just follow the cartoon version, without adding anything interesting. I like Emma Watson, but she wasn't a believable and natural as Belle. I think that she plays the role mostly because she was Hermione in Harry Potter and Belle is bookish too... For me, this movie was made because live actions remakes are popular. I'd rather rewatch the cartoon version. (ButI can understand if people like this movie. It's not too bad... But I wanted something more)
I enjoyed the Jungle Book live action way more, because they added things from the book to the movie, and didn't follow the cartoon as much.
