Came back for a moment to ask for your help. Anyone who can help me, well I will forever thankful!

Once again my mind is plagued by a book that I for the life of me cannot recall the title or author of and only have fractured memories to go by. Yet this is driving me absolutely insane!

I do know the book is from around 1998-2001 pretty darn sure. It was a young adult novel, fantasy. Heck it might even be a Canadian author who wrote it but again I don't really remember.

It had something to do with kids/people being taken to another world and the whole place is kind of a shell of its former self I believe? There is a castle and things used to be good but something happened and now things are bad...

Ugh yeah it was so long ago. I do remember there was a creature they feared and in the end when the world was turned back to a nicer place it once was this creature could be seen rolling around in flowers and no longer a threat.

Eh I am so sorry ... read the book when I was 13.. been a long, long time. If you know the book... you are amazing. Thank you so much for any and all help, I sorely appreciate it!
