Is anyone going to try Camp NaNoWriMo next month?
I'm going to give it a go.
I was just wondering since I thought it would be pretty cool if someone started a Subeta user cabin for the camp...
It was just a thought... Since everyone here is pretty awesome and whatnot.
I dunno about cabins at this point, but I'm probably going to be doing Camp NaNo in April. (Well, and probably July, too.)
Sweet! Same here! I'm quite excited! What are you going to be writing about? If you don't mind me asking... ^_^
My current project (or the old one I'm digging out to use, lol) is YA about a mother and son who have been living on the road since the father died, set when they're finally trying to settle down in a new town.
I tried NaNoWriMo once and decided not to do it again. I don't like forcing myself to write, so I didn't enjoy the idea of 50k words in one month. For me, when the words/ideas don't come naturally, I find my writing becomes incredibly choppy & that the stories become filled with info dumps instead of, y'know, actual plot.
Granted, I write fanfics more than my own original stories, so I don't know that it'd count anyway. But ah well! I say write when ya write. Unless of course, one's goal is to make a living out of it. Then write constantly! ^_^
I'm participating! Kind of a slow start for me (my current goal is 35k words) but definitely making some progress c:
Haha, I'm sort of the opposite, as in I feel like a time constraint actually helps me get motivated to just write, even if it's terrible. I'm usually very nitpicky and a total grammar nazi so I'd be editing the same sentences over and over again and it gets me nowhere. At least, with the clock ticking I feel like I'm getting somewhere. I do understand your feeling about ideas not coming naturally, and yes, info dumps... But my current w.i.p. is kind of a giant info dump so what can I say, lol.

I actually posted a fanfic that I rushed to put together, and my writing was choppy & just filled with so many info dumps, so I feel ya! It didn't flow like a real story should, y'know? Granted, I knew that, but I still wanted to post it as it was for a Secret Santa event. To make a long story short, I ended up getting a nasty comment on FF.net that put me off writing & posting fanfics for over a year. I've since gotten back into the swing of things & focus more on RP than fanfiction, but I've vowed to never post my work on FF again for the sake of my own mental health. :p
