Additional Infrastructure Changes!

Hey everyone, I just pushed out over the last two days some of the last pieces of major infrastructure that we need to complete to ensure that Subeta is up and running 99% of the time. This time we moved our ElasticSearch engine from a third party to our own hosted solution at AWS.
ElasticCache is the system that we use to host our logs (so that user administrators can look at help you with tickets) and because of the type of site Subeta is we make a lot of logs. I'm talking in the 250GB a month in text logs kind of way, so this move was no small lift. This move gives us more freedom and control over the cache itself (including finally being able to upgrade to version 5!) and should be a significant speed and cost save for us.
In addition after the S3 outage two weeks ago which brought down huge chunks of the internet (Subeta included!) we're working to ensure that in the future we have fallbacks for a situation like that. In the near term that means making sure that our servers and images are hosted across multiple 'regions' at Amazon, so if one goes down the others persist. We're already doing that with our web servers (which is why you were able to access Subeta), we just need to ensure to do the same with other services like elasticcache, queuing and images. That means a little more work setting up our server build, but will pay off the next time the internet has an explosion.

OH! In addition, we moved to making the shoutbox and live events into a microservice that lives at n.subeta.net. This makes adding new features to it significantly easier, and we're looking at places (smail!) that we can add a little bit of instant response magic to your flow. It required rewriting the live event code but was worth it for the increase in productivity it gives us going forward.
