Would maybe Smith catch your intrest? For his character, he's got a pretty wide range in his personality. It always switches from happy (up to extremely cheerful) to sad/despaired, so anything in that range except for angry goes. To get a grasp of his story, you can always take a look at his story, which isn't too much of a tl;dr I think. (:
