My pet, Fink, is finally Tier 11! After spending so much time, SP, and even CSC training, I figure I should attempt a proper battle set. I'm looking for suggestions on what things I should make a priority to swap out with what.

My current battle set is

I also have and

Scrolls have me stumped completely! I have a few random ones, not worth listing. I have no idea what I should be looking for with those.

If someone would be so kind to give me some guidance I'd be ever so grateful!

Try using the [*item=] tag (without the asterisk instead of the ones in your post. :) As for scrolls, I recommend getting a couple of the Perilous Whirlpool Scroll; it has a small chance of freezing your opponent which comes in handy once you've used your OPB freezer in previous turn. Basically you want scrolls that block a lot of icons, or deal a lot of damage. If you can get something that also has a bonus +% heal, that would be even better. :)

I was on a hiatus for quite a while and my pet is in a lower tier (T9,) but this is my old/current set:

AP:44 Cobalt Eternal x 1 (blocker) Thunderous Roar x 1 (some damage) Perilous Whirlpool x 2 (minimal damage, chance to freeze) Gelaspell x 1 (damage)

I also used Soothing Current, previously.

That worked, thank you!

I'll go look up those scrolls, I haven't heard of any of them!

Thank you!

No worries! I'm sorry I'm kind of rusty with scrolls now. Another scroll that gets recommended a lot is Terra Focujin (which some people shorten to tfoc,) iirc it also has a +% heal and deals some damage on the side. :D

Hmm, it's very difficult to give advice for tier 11, since you'll need different weapons depending on the opponent you want to beat. Usually you aim for weapons that have some healing, deal decent damage and consistently block 1-2 icon types. This is usually where the more expensive stuff comes in.

Get rid of the Sentinel, Subetaball and Eternal in your set.

The Gate Keeper Collar is fine; it's a good thing to have a 100% freezer in your set. I would recommend to slowly try to get a Intricate Energized Helmet, which can be made using battle shop tokens. It also has a 100% freeze chance, but in addition it also gives you a blessing which protects from freezing for two turns. This is nice against the likes of General Error who like to chain freeze.

The One Ring is an ok clutch healer, but by this time your pet is probably outgrowing it. It only heals 1000 hp, so if your pet has a lot more hp than that, it's better to have a percentage healer instead. The easiest to get is the Phoenix Quill from the Millionaire Center which heals your pet for 100%. Then there's the Reviver of the Lion (an old reading drive prize, so probably in the Antique Shop) which heals for 70% or so, and can be used together in one set with the Phoenix Quill. Then there's another item which I forgot the name of; that one might be a bit better than the Reviver of the Lion, but probably also a lot more expensive. It was a dragon themed item, sorry, I forgot the name :/

I'm a bit doubtfull about the Malice; it's an ok weapon, but it lacks healing and as such it's not overly usefull for a tier 11 pet. Although I keep a Rapier of Error in my own set, just for having a reliable curse and a high chance to freeze. But I have to admit that this is the first to go out when fighting tougher opponents where heals and blocks are really a requirement.

The Subetaball is best replaced with items like the Soma Tablets (Antique Shop), which blast your opponents weapons into useless stuff that doesn't deal damage when they use it. A cheaper alternative for the Soma would be the Recycle Blaster (can also be used together with the Soma for increased blasting potential). There's also the Truth Serum which lets you steal two of your opponents weapons, but since these weapons are almost never usable by you, the use of the Truth Serum is rather situational.

I'm still using the Malignant Rift Staff in my default set myself. It's one of those weapons which aren't super awesome, but it gets the job done in a beginner tier 11 set. Together with the Paintbrush Blades I think the staff makes for a nice starter tier 11 set which helps you knock some opponents out. Eventually both the staff and the Paintbrush Blades need to be swapped out for the more expensive weapons which block specific icons. At that point weapons are entirely dependend on the opponent and battling gets quite expensive. A list of possible weapons you'd want to pursue at that point: Blessed Trident of the Banished One or Swashbuckle (prize for finishing Item Hunt) to block wind icons. Dark Goddess Rod to block light icons (you can get one for free when your pet reaches 22k total stats I think). Manifesting Weapon (Tier 12) (Prize for beating Rouland during Morostide) to block water icons. Possessed Bow (Blackheart Hollow) or Natasha (Millionaire Center) to block fire icons. A less reliable (but probably cheaper) fire blocker would be Prodigy Staff. Replica Minotaur Knocker as a budget earth icon blocker, or Ornamented Hook Swords from the Millionaire Center. The Ether (Millionaire Center) to block physical icons. Cronus Blade (Made from drops of the Meatslab challengers) to block magma icons. Maniacal Essence to block dark icons. Unstable Sample Syringe (from the Mutant Scientist challenger) is a nice hybrid blocker that blocks both ice and magma icons. Extendable Elemental Trident might also be an ok ice blocker, depending on your stats.

Then there's ofcourse the really really expensive stuff like: Sandreaver, Wand of the Phoenix, Keiths Ultimate Freezewand of Doom, Ancestral Unrest, Blackmoons Staff, Malerias Staff of Destruction, Oracles Staff of Enlightenment, Shinwas Sacred Bow, Sword of the Seven Seas, Tainted Keeper Skull Staff and Wrath Of Kahaleitzli. Of these, Ancestral Unrest and the Tainted Keeper staff are a bit newer, so you'd have more chances of finding those on sale than the others. Some of the newer weapons are doing somewhat the same as the old almost unobtainable ones, so it's definitely not required to get all of them (or even one of them).

Scrolls. For scrolls I'd go with the Aftershocks scroll. It heals a bit less than Terra Focujin, but its attack and defense are a bit better. Personally I like the Gelaspell scroll for being an infinite use freezing scroll; but I have to admit that I didn't use it much after I replaced my Terra Focujin with the Aftershocks. I also like Gift of the Forj as a once per battle healing scroll which heals quite a bit. It's always good to stack up on scrolls that freeze, like the Psycho Smasher and Shriek of Despair scrolls. I'm also having a Gale Force scroll in my set which has a lesser chance to freeze, but heals some hp. Other than that, I'm not really good at scroll related stuff, so can't help much :/ I do have to add that since finding weapons with ice block is kind of difficult, it might be nice to get a Unstable Fairy scroll since it blocks some ice icons. That's nice for some opponents.

Sorry for the huge wall of text :/

Edit: I found the other once per battle healer: Amulet of Drakkonis Unfortunately, it counts as a healer in the battle set, so that might give problems. It heals 50% hp, with a chance to heal 100%.

@ lucee: Here to voice my agreement with losts0ul. There's hardly any universal set for T11 challengers onwards, as you tend to cater to their damage icons, though a universal set might still be useful against lower tiered challengers.

For T11 I'd recommend triple duties (weapons that blocks, attacks and heals all in one) over any combo of 1 attack + 1 block. Some opponents deal more damage than you can effectively block, heal for more than you can damage with just one weapon, and possibly freeze and curse you. For this reason using only one main attacker will reduce your damage output and potentially put your survivability at risk, esp if you have heal on only one of your weapon/ shield. That's not to mention it will make the battle much longer. Lengendaries and legendary combos with sentinel have therefore become obsolete at this point. I'd recommend swapping out your Eternal, Sentinel, Aemis and Ametsuchi in favour of more effective (and affordable) options. Other weapons with no heal are less recommendable, except for a few:

  • Rapier of Error : favourable for its curse and freeze chance, and 3 mod slots.
  • Frostbite Amulet: good for its large water block and freeze chance. Not favourable for its 2 mod slots and no heal.

Recommended Triple duties Each of the following attacks, blocks and heals. For their blocked icon types and heal percentage you can look them up on Subetalodge.

Good against: opponents who deal a spread of icon types. Good entry T11 weapon.

Good to excellent fire block. The cheapest is the Prodigy Staff, though its block is less reliable.

Good to excellent earth block.

Good to excellent physical block.

Both very good ice block. First also very good magma block. Second also very good water block. Second scales with speed.

Good to excellent dark and light block, respectively.

Scales with Strength; blocks a different type of icons every time your pet gains a chunk of strength points.

Good to excellent wind block. The first scales with speed. The last scales with Tier. First one is cheapest/ most affordable.

Unfortunately you'll need or have your battling made easier with demi-god or god weapons against some opponents. Losts0ul has listed most of them. Those I've listed are easier to obtain, in both their availability and price range.

Scroll You'll need an infinite healing scroll at this point, then blocking and freezing scrolls esp. for freezable opponents. Infinite healing: Aftershocks, Feather Explosion, Skelly Scroll, Ocean Currents. Each heals and blocks and deals certain types of icons. OPB freezing scrolls: Psycho Smasher (achievement prize), Shriek of Despair (rare loot drop from Nightlady). Perilous Whirlpool (craftable @ the Shrine) or Gale Force (@ battle shop) are cheaper alternatives. Good blocking scrolls: Typhoon of Valor (wind), Perilous Whirlpool (fire), Gigan blow (earth), Arctic Braver (ice) (Shrine). Oblivijhen (magma) is expensive and I'd rather make other scrolls with its ingredients. Other blocks: Sancturia Exodin (Shrine), Spacial Abyss (Genetech Combo), and Cobalt Eternal (Millionaire Centre). Fatal Fire (dark and magma) (loot drop).

Blaster Soma Tablets (highly recommended), Recycle Blaster.

Others to make/earn Intricate Energized Helmet: Best freezer for higher tiers. Battle shop. Volatile Energized Mecha: small heal, stat boost during battle, and curse.

At T11 and above you've got emough strength to do some damage from curses (which your enemies can't block and can still deal damage even when you're frozen), so I'd look into that as well. Some weapons come with curses/ blessings. Some curses/ blessings can be slotted onto your weapons by attaching mod crystals (battle shops or loot drops). Curses: Singed (mod baguette crystal), curses can also come from weapons (Rapier of Error, Volatile Energized Mecha). Blessing: blessing of natural armor, parched baguette crystal (freeze proof, the first one steal proof).
