I was challenged by a pet very much stronger than my pet. I do not want to battle though. How do I get out of this battle? I completely lost where I even go to battle now, too.

Was it a random event from the ice king at the top of your page? The ice king is a challenger you can only battle when you get the random event. You can ignore the events until your pet is strong enough to fight him. In order to forfeit a battle, go to the battle coliseum and click on the statistics tab. There you will see a list of all of your pets. If one of your pets is in a battle, You will see "name of pet is in a battle!" followed by a forfeit link underneath. If you click on the "pet is in a battle" link it will take you to battle. If you click on the forfeit link you will get out of battle.

how do you beat the troll?

The troll can be beaten by certain T1 - T3 weapons. The catch with the troll is that once someone beats him 5 times with one weapon, the challenger can no longer be beaten with that same weapon and another weapon is randomly chosen that can beat him. I believe there is something like 24 weapons that have been known to beat him in the past so the right weapon randomly cycles through those weapons.
