I can be hit with snowballs still?

So, I put on the shield that's supposed to keep you from getting hit with snowballs, and not long afterwards, I get hit by a snowball (not naming names here). Is this a glitch or something?

Ant Agony, Butterfly Bruise, Carchari, Caterkiller, Crack Head, Cryomorph, Crystalitis, Death Roe, Death Slug, Doom Bloom, Eau de Ceased, Fevermore, Grosseries, Ilunopox, Gummy Squirm, Love Bug, Metalmorphosis, Muerte Fuerte, Naughty Nip, Pinkie Patch, Queasea, Jolly Rotter, Sickura, Snack o-lantern, The Vapors, Befowled, Wrapture, Yggdrakill, and Transmewtation.
There's a slim chance that the shield will not block the snowball. It's just dumb luck you got hit that soon.
Well, I hadn't up until that point while I had the shield on (both right now and while I had the Caterkiller virus), but prior to that, I was getting hit with Snowballs, so I figured it was fully blocking them.

I got hit by one a few days ago, but didn't have the shield on. Didn't expect to need it. Shouldn't the Snowtapult be closed by now? I wouldn't have thought it would still be in use past the end of January.

:) It's open all winter this year. So you still have roughly two weeks of them, since the first day of spring is the 20th.
