trolling

I still want to beat this guy! Who's with me??! I would like to see who is still active, and possibly re-assign weapons. I know @ arixen still pings this group for TS restocks, so at least you're active...

It's been a long time since we've ben active but I know a few people have beat him since then, I'm not sure if another group has emerged or they've just beat him on their own, but his face taunts me every time I visit the Secret tab on the battle page.

Ping me if you're still active, let me know if you were an admin, and hopefully we can figure something out!!! I've never been an admin to a forum group (and I'm not to this one) so I'm not sure how this works but I'm sure we can figure this out!

Haha, sorry I forgot to mention it. I'm talking about the Troll. The defeating weapon changes every 5 wins, but if everyone holds off clicking "end battle" on their fifth win, then multiple people can defeat him! c:

, no the group is not active as far as I know. I am one of the admins. There does seem to be some new interest in beating the troll and I'd like to help, but it took quite a lot of time and organization (and sometimes sP for weapons). I haven't heard of anyone winning against the troll since we stopped working, but if you have and you know what worked that would be good information. I don't really have the time to run a group right now, but I'm willing to help out where I can. I've hear of people beating him, but I can't think of any explicit instances right now! I just messaged on that board. Is there a possibility that you can make me an admin of this group, so I don't have to create another? I know hasn't been on in a while, but like I said, I've never been admin of a forum group before, so I don't know how much power each has compared to the owner/creator.

I wouldn't mind taking charge of re-assigning pages and tier levels (hopefully having some support from other admins). I haven't had much to do on Subeta recently, and I think this would be a nice getaway from homework. c:

- I think it would be better to start a new group. All the lists, etc. are waaayyy out of date. And most of the members probably already got their wins and aren't interested in checking weapons, etc. If you are just looking for a copy of the page list or something like that, I will be happy to get you a copy of anything you can't access yourself. A smaller dedicated group who understand the technique and who have sufficient sP to get all the weapons (at least T1 through T3 and perhaps T4 which starts getting expensive, or even T5) can probably do the job faster with less overhead. Beating the troll requires regular testing of every possible weapon and a system to notify others to join in before the weapon changes. Also it takes some discipline. New users need to be taught the technique which takes time, as well. With a group as large as trolling several of us were putting in what amounted to full work days for awhile. That's one of the reasons why it's no longer active. :-)

- all the weapons were split up for testing, but the system we were using needs a large group. So you need to see what size group you have before making a new system.

I'm around and about, though my focus lately is less than ideal. I was/am an admin and did a whole lot of editing pages to keep weapons lists up to date. I'm not certain I'm up for another month/however long of that, but I might be able to help in other ways.

Are you asking me to start a new system? :s Sorry, I was just simply inquiring if I remembered the general idea of how the group worked first place (it's been basically inactive)... I didn't mean to imply the system needed to be changed, although I understand it's probably out of date/lists of active members - I definitely realize the OP was asking the group/and gathering who would be interested/have the time, that's why I was saying I would totally be interested to join in the battles. Anyway, I'm pretty sure you answered my question, thanks, and yeah I need a few more wins.

- no, not asking you to start a new system. I'm trying to say the system will need to be changed depending on how big of a group you wind up with. The way the troll gets defeated is by finding the weapon and sharing it before it changes. That (at least used to) mean that every single possible weapon needs to be regularly and frequently checked. So how many weapons each person needs to own/try depends on how many people are working together. Larger groups means fewer weapons per person and less expense per person, but they have communication issues when a winner is found. Smaller groups can share the wins more easily, but they need to own/test many more weapons. Also everyone involved needs to know and respect how not to make the weapon change once it's found. I'll be more than happy to help set up some sort of workable system once a new group gets together. I just don't have the time to organize or run it.

@ curbdirt @ shylarah I am trying to revive this group, but it seems many users may have already achieved wins agains the Troll. So I will ping tomorrow evening with what I plan to do (probably I will form another forum group, as @ arixen has suggested). I agree, that a tight-knit group that understand the importance of patience is vital. I remember this being an issue with the previous group, and the main reason why I have just one win against the Troll!

[edit], if you wouldn't mind messaging me with some strategies...that would be awesome! I don't do much on here (currently, I'm on and off, you know?) but running this group wouldn't be much of an issue for me. And I want to beat him as a personal goal, haha.

- not so much patience as training. We found that with the group growing so quickly, there was a big issue with people not understanding how to get their wins without changing the weapon. put a lot of effort into making training materials and we all spent lots of time trying to teach everyone how to share the wins. Once people understood what do to, they all seemed happy to cooperate.

I've beaten him the first go around... and if they do a reset, I will have to beat him again. He's so frustrating, I'll wait.

I'm not sure I understand the logic of creating a new group. If people are no longer interested in participating in this one because they have their wins, wouldn't they just leave the group?

Otherwise, what's the point of even keeping this group in existence if it's only going to be used for things like token shop pinging instead of its purpose of banding together to beat The Troll?

I'm in! In all that time I never managed a single win v_v

I went about trying to beat him on my own one day and got super lucky. Was able to share with some friends on here and a few of us got to beat him the 5 times before it was reset. I suppose I need to leave the group, since I beat him. I kind of forgot I was even in this group. I wish you and everyone else luck on beating him.

I'm game to get the group going again to beat him. I get 5 wins with 3 pets, but I have 11 others who want a shot! I've still got all the shitty weapons on my armoury too.

- Because peeps are lazy and instead of just leaving the group if they don't want the pings, then complain instead? (it's a troll group after all right?) I must admit, it is rather annoying to be pinged by this group for TS reatocks and stuff, I'm already a part of two other groups that do that as is their intended purpose.

I'm almost always up for trying to take down the troll, but I feel like a consistent tracking method isn't going to work. I feel like we should keep the group, but instead take it in a different direction. I feel it would be better to do a monthly "Troll Bashing" where we actually go to the Battle forum, do an event/contest with it, and wait until next month. Constantly trying to beat the troll is just not worth it in imho.

- no need to leave the trolling group - many members have already beat the troll (and we aren't active there right now anyway). Lots of us are willing to help others also win, so totally your choice about stay or go. Do you remember what weapon worked when you got your wins? There has been much speculation on whether T4's or above need to be tested and it would be very helpful to know what has been working.

- the old group belongs to and is mostly inactive. I'm usually the one who pings for the token shop. If enough of the trolling members tell me they don't like that, I can stop including that group there. So far you're the first since we stopped being very active. Also I'm an admin and was the one who suggested a new group. Many of the old group already had wins and stayed to help others, the data bases are hopelessly out of date and while I understand it looks a bit silly from a member perspective, please trust me that the administrative work will be much easier for a new group. Especially for a much smaller one. Hope that helps.

- you should definitely join the new group that's forming. After all that work you put in whipping that data into usable form, it's about time you actually beat that Troll!
