edit: whoa, this became a novel. tl;dr is that my quiz result changed over a couple years, and I'm analyzing that, while welcoming others to do the same for themselves.

For those not aware, the Pottermore site was originally a sort of game, with house points, minigames, and roleplay in the comments as well as the wand and house quizzes. It was then reworked to be the site it is now, eventually bringing back the old quizzes and adding ones for patronus(I think- it may have been there before?) and Ilvermorny houses. I ended up having to make a new account, though I cannot remember if that was because accounts were reset or if I just lost access.

I recently decided to go ahead and retake the wand quiz, answering the questions based on how I am now rather than a couple years ago when I first took the quiz. My wand is Walnut Wood with Dragon Heartstring, supple and about 13 inches long. However, when I had taken the quiz a couple years younger, I got (I believe, going off memory) a Larch Phoenix Feather wand, 11 inches. I found the difference very interesting.

Not to make this all about myself obviously, but I found that I have grown as a person a lot since I joined the original Pottermore. I know it's kind of silly to use personality quizzes as the go-to for self-analysis, especially about what is effectively a plot device, but I actually feel like my wand "fits" me. Not going into all the detail because some of it's personal, and I won't ask anyone else to divulge deep personal quirks either (unless they want to), but when I first took the quiz I believed I had a lot of untapped potential that I wanted people to appreciate, and then I got the result of a Larch wand: the wand of "hidden talents and unexpected effects" which felt really validating for me at that time in my life. Another thing to note is the length of the wand; the official text on wand length says that a shorter wand tends to indicate "something lacking" in a person's character- perhaps a deficiency, though it could also be potential for growth. I have grown as a person, so my result is a longer wand.

I know that I probably shouldn't be taking this too seriously, but I'm curious if other people who have had to take one of the Pottermore quizzes more than once have also experienced an indication of change based on Harry Potter related quiz results. Even something as simple as a different Hogwarts house, if it encourages self-reflection. It's probably a long shot, but who knows? If not Harry Potter, maybe another fandom has done this. A thing to note though is that I'm hoping to keep this thread about fandom-related quizzes, rather than just any online personality quiz.

I'm not really sure if this is the right place to put this; HP-related posts could go in Literature, Movies... or Internet in the case of Pottermore. This may be better-served for a HP-specific forum, but I'm not a member of any at the moment, except for a forum group that I believe is more intended for roleplay purposes than book/movie/site discussion, but maybe I'm wrong. Either way, I hope that someone can at least get a little entertainment or insight from this thread, and if they want to discuss, that's great too!
