hi! so for the past few months i've really been wanting to join an art cult (or group.. idk what they're actually called these days) and i got a little psyched when i saw talk about it on another thread but that fizzled out. so, i rattled it around in my head for a while and decided that it's something i would like to tackle - i was apart of avant garde, which was a pretty big art cult a few years back, and i honestly really miss that sense of community. unfortunately the people leading and those helping, myself included, became busy with other things so it came to an end. now, this would not be art exclusive! it will be the primary focus as it's what i believe most people will join for, however will be open to creativity in general - provided they can use whatever craft they're into to participate within the group. now i know there may be some debate in this, but i would really like for this to be more of a creativity-focused place. also said she'd be super willing to help running a writing portion of it :P

of course details will have to be ironed out in that regard, since some contests that work well with one medium might not work so well with another, but hey, there's time for that.

anyways, since this is something i strongly believe will stir up interest, it's not really a question of "if" right now so much as "what". as in what - if you're interested in such a group, that is - would you like to see in it? i know the other thread had some talk on it but i'd prefer something more current and not uh, locked. so if you'd do me a favor and express any interest (or disinterest!), or opinion in the following:

forum? website? both? would you want to see one of those? both of them? would you want some sort of chatting thing? chances are it would be discord, since well, i love discord. what do you think about a member cap? what would you personally want to see in it?

that being said, it would be an application based sorta deal. while we wouldn't expect people to be the most advanced, it would be nice to have people who are at least modestly dedicated to what they're doing. also it needs a name, but one revolving around creativity as opposed to just drawing - something like creative corner or creative cafe i actually really like that one so i might be using that one woops

ye i'm absolutely willing to help. i think something that would be great for it would be a discord server, personally. but that's because i spend my life on it, as i run a server for my overwatch group.

you can literally separate everything by channels, just like in a forum. it's super handy.

unfortunately it's starting to seem like the hype from the last thread died down quite a bit. :c either that or forums are stupid slow.

I also agree with Kendra on the Discord chat. It works very well for groups and there is a lot of freedom with what you can work with. You can even make channels in your server invite only in case you want an 18+ channel or a channel for mod discussion. You can pin rules and updates to specific channels too which is pretty nice.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing an art group, though! You could possibly do something with weekly or monthly creative prompts, and a feedback and critique section would be nice to see.

phew, i was starting to think the interest had completely died out lol, was a little bummed.

discord is most definitely the way to go as far as i'm concerned, i've been using it quite a bit these passed few days, and it's been pretty nice. that's exactly along the lines that i was thinking, maybe have some minor weekly contests and then a larger one once a month with prizes.

thank you for your input c:

I love the idea of a creativity themed group. Art prompts sound like such a good idea from a motivational standpoint.

Just to expand on the previously suggested idea of weekly/monthly creative prompts, how about having special themed months?

One example: Comic Month. Mixing art and writing. Week 1 - Create an original comic idea. By the end of the week, one would need to submit a title for the comic, a description of the comic, rough concept art, etc. Week 2 - Character development - Create five unique characters and submit them in a character line up. Week 3 - World development - Draw different props and backgrounds of where the story would take place if it were an ongoing comic. Week 4 - Create one full color comic page.

And with something like this, the winner would be determined by their process from the entire month.

We haven't been getting much interest tbh. It's hard to gauge when the forums here can be so slow, haha. I'll give Alaska a poke and see how she feels.

i'd personally still be interested in it but i'm not sure if there's much interest in general. i'm a little hesitant to put in the time/effort only to have it flop. :(

honestly i'm still really into the idea so maybe i'll start something small and if it garners enough interest, it can be further grown. i'll give some more thought to it this week. @ _ @

yes! I'm interested!

forum? website? both? would you want to see one of those? both of them? Sort of new to the whole groups thing so I'm not really sure lol

would you want some sort of chatting thing? chances are it would be discord, since well, i love discord. yes I need subeta friends

what do you think about a member cap? I'm not bothered :)

what would you personally want to see in it? Like Heart said, some activities and challenges. Also I would definitely be interested in some kind of tutorials/suggestions or even just sharing works. I'm also interested in exploring different media as I am mostly comfortable with sketching and colouring (traditional, I'm hopeless digitally) and would love to get into something new
