Hello! I've been hanging around on Subeta for a month now (my moirail kept posting their avatars in discord and at some point I just caved and made an account) buuuut I'm sort of weird with forums, so I kinda kept to the dressup and pet battle corners, or lurking. (Curse you Blue Building requirements)
I'm not properly graduated yet, but I passed all my undergrad courses and exams including my Bachelor's Thesis in Library and Information science (topic: "Advantages and Disadvantages of colour use in libraries"; and let me tell you, red walls are a bad idea) with a good mark. I'm currently branching out into programming (which is/was my minor) and solidifying my skills there. In the meantime, I enjoy gaming (I got a Let's Play channel), reading, writing, drawing, rping, and transcribing german cursive into latin script.
You know that person who has an assortment of weird pockets of knowledge and skill, but nothing on expert level? Yeah, that's me.

Welcome to Subeta, and the forums! Your HA is looking great :) I have to same I'm intrigued by colour use in libraries, you mean as in physical interiors of libraries?
If you have any questions, feel free to ask :) We have a great community, and I'm sure you'll get the requirements for Blue Building in no time ;)

Thanks! ^^_^^ I tend to change my HA about every day, but atm it's one of my RP characters. Yeah, the thesis focused on interior design. Colour can be used as a wayfinding tool, either to distinguish between different topics or library areas (and a bit more, but those are the main applications for libraries), but many libraries I visited have stark white walls and there prevailing opinion is still that it's books that bring colour into the library, which has been nonsense ever since they stopped giving books library bindings to give them a uniform appearance. It's partially a money thing, though, even just as a "plain" design element. And then there's the IKMZ Cottbus, which is very colourful in a very fail way. Think early-mid 2000's geocities websites. The photos don't do it justice, it's worse in person.
You know how fire extinguishers, fire alarm boxes, these huge boxes that contain hoses, and the signage marking them are all red? Yeah. If you put those on red walls, they become very hard to see, and, depending on the shade of red used, pretty much invisible. -gives major sideeye to the IKMZ Cottbus- That is not a good thing in any public building, and even less of a good thing in a highly flammable public building like a library.
ETA: aaand I just realized I forgot your first question, whoops! I played some .hack//Infection, but that one's paused until I get a controller to hook up to my tower, because keyboard control sucks for that game (Between me and my family, I have all the games I'm (planning on) playing, but for ease of recording I'm emulating them on my tower), and I played Child of Light. Technically I wanted to continue with Hiveswap, but it's been delayed, and the last windows update killed the windows on my tower and I have to set it up again before I get to play anything again, my tablet just doesn't cut it (laaaags), heh. I think I'm gonna start with the Zelda series next, I never managed to finish those games... It's linked in my profile.

welcome to the forums! i hope you'll find that a lot of people on this site really are kind and helpful, i'm the kind of person who typically keeps to herself but i always have a great time on the forums (:
welcome, I'm new too... 2 weeks. I have a master of library and information studies. Intriguing about the red walls, although if one puts emergency items in white boxes or paint a white box around the items, then they stand out. We got a new library made (Benny) in Montreal that has a red floor area for kids to sit down on and play/read.
Mountain of blankets... cold where you're at? Right now I have blankets not only due to the cold, dealing with pain from wisdom teeth surgery & blankets help balance the ice packs. Plus, I have blankets year round to cover Gismo (my hairless cat) since he loves being tucked in ;)
hullo fellow newcomer and information scientist! ::D
What were your thesis topics?
No white boxes here, there's regulations. And white around the boxes would probably help, but .
A red floor sounds cool ::Daesthetic
Yeah, it's cold. We had snow a few days back and although it melted already, we still go below freezing even during the day. We'd get more snow if there was any precipitation xxD
Blankets are love and life, and I'm basically living in my knitted one ::D Blankets and pillows. And D:: re: the wisdom teeth, that must suck. Hope you get well soon! (I need mine taken out as well, they give me headaches uu_uu)

Although most masters require thesis, the MLIS was class based. We got more theory to be able to be able to better put into practice in future possible jobs. We did have to choose a concentration (more classes in); however, there are also more flexible classes. My official focus was libraries; yet, I took archive & knowledge management classes for my spare ones to get a more global edu.
Hope that makes sense, still in pain & on heavy meds. Crowded teeth can put pressure on the jaw. Removing them can potentially reduce headaches (or migraines in my case); however, depending how severe, it's more jaw realignment that makes a difference.
