Just got this from mori:

I don't mind the occasional quest being a gamble, but the Junko Entropy Art Print was just released and there are none in shops or trades.

One suggestion I have to address this is to simply not allow quests to ask for subeautique items, which should be simple enough - because these items almost always cost more than an invite (which seems to hover around 300k) so I think most people would quit the quest. Even if a quest asks for expensive items, it should only be expensive enough for us to feel like doing the quest is a real gamble, instead of "I should quit this quest because there's next to zero chance this will be worth what I spend"

my very first wizard quest after reset today (right after the beanbag news posted, i think) was for a cherry demi beanbag, so i understand how you feel. but this has come up before at least once, and i still think the item pools should only be changed to fix some kind of bug (like the last time carl's pool was adjusted and when cinthia wanted brainlings every other day); with how profitable quests are these days, missing one every once in a while isn't a bad trade imo.

To clarify, I was talking about Subq items though, not newly released items (the junko entropy item just happened to be both, whoops)

Thanks for linking the old thread, I read through and I think what people said there makes a lot of sense. And in general it's not a big deal. My thought process is that asking staff to implement some way to monitor prices is a bit much, because it would probably take staff a lot of work to implement - but asking them to take subq off the list seems simpler and a better compromise.

Of course, I've never seen Subeta's code base, so I can't actually speak to what would be simple or difficult to implement :) And I guess it's better not to trouble staff with something like this that doesn't matter much.

Could you (or another mod) please lock this thread? Thanks

i figured, but i thought it'd be easier to generalize with new releases since that's the more common complaint with quests p: i think your thought about a price range is technically possible? since that was part of the issue with carl's quests a while back, and i would guess that taking out a whole shop is also possible (when the brainling was a big complaint, mentioned that taking off one trivia prize meant taking out all of them, so it might not be a big stretch to remove subq from the pools), but like you said i just don't know if it'd be worth the work.
