So, the idea I had was to make item uses be placed in drop downs.
It may not be Subeta's Biggest Issue, but it can be annoying when an item has multiple uses, and you have more than just a few pets. While there are many items that have multiple uses (some having more that two uses), imagine the fun it is to see things like ... Which is edible, readable, playable, and a stat booster; so it lists all 10+ pets for each one of those uses. It's a sea of "WHERE IS THE RIGHT LINK, BRUH"
So, the proposal is to make these into drop down menus where we can pick the pet, and click to Do The Thing. It can be done two ways:
I'd also love if the treasure option were done this way for aesthetics, and shops/galleries can as well to save some clicks/time.
I'd love this! Some of those menus get awfully long and confusing, especially as there's no gap between use types. Even just a gap would please me at this point tbh.
Oh I'd definitely be all for this! My battle/gourmand pet is right towards the top of my pet list, but mis-clicks have happened in the past and it's pretty devastating. A drop down just makes more sense for things like this.

Fuck YES I have wanted this for ages. Using items on pets gets to be such a pain when you have a lot of pets to choose from.
I suggested something like this in another thread (can't find it now), and some people didn't seem to like the idea of having drop downs. But it's better than what we've currently got. SOMETHING needs to be done to tidy up those item options, and make it easier to find the one you want.
Great idea, but I'd suggest having the item use links listed first, and then once the use is selected THEN the pets show up so you can choose who do Do The Thing To.
If someone has 20-50 pets that link list is going to be terrible if it's pets listed first. :)
Yes, that's how I'd imagine the first option being. There would be a list "feed, read, use, etc" that you would click on one of them, and then the next page it would be a drop down menu of your pets. Which is how the "send to buddy" link/drop down works.
The second option would be the drop down of pets, with a button next to it that says the action. More than one option would have more than one drop down, each with their respective action link.
As of right now, the lists of pets is horrendously long. The point of this is to shorten that.
I have over 40 pets and this would be a MASSIVE help. More than once I've done the wrong action with an item. I think I'd prefer the first choice to be a list of actions, and you click on the action type you want and get either a drop down or second page with your list of pets. Terasure chests could be treated the same way. So youd click either "fee to pet" "read to pet" or "add to pets treasure chest" and then pick which pet you want from a drop down or list
Yes please!!! I have only a few pets and I already fed stat boosters more than once...
This is an interesting idea that could make Subeta more fun.
I personally do not have good control of my hands, so a drop down would result in more errors as I try to mouse down through thirty pets. I would like a second page that opens up after feed/use/read/play/zoo/collect comes up.
Yes, this needs to be a thing.
I recall ages ago that this was the goal with the rewrite. But, you know, Subeta soon (TM). I don't even have that many pets and I support this.
I'd support this, or I'd at least support SOMETHING that would make it easier to do things like this. I actually came here to see if there was some sort of suggestion to make using multi-use items less confusing, I just almost read a tome to my pet, and it's not the first time. Why isn't there even a space between functions?
(why is the remote edible... don't eat remotes. don't make me coat it in bitter stuff like a Switch game)
It's "universal" and a much older item, so it's readable too and has a bunch of other uses
i just fed nine booster eggs bc i wasn't paying attention and now i am vaguely irritated bc darn it, nyx needed to USE those eggs not eat them
but then i remembered this topic, so. i would like dropdowns or even having "use"/"feed"/whatever links that go to a separate page with all your pets and radio buttons. whatever's easiest/most functional. just not what we have now >:c
