OK so I'm getting really sick and tired of seeing the political talk. So much I snapped a moment ago and yelled at people in the SB. I get it your candidate didn't win, but you can't seem to shut up about how America is dieing or how any one who voted for trump is racist and idiots.

That hurts my feelings. It really does. I will say here that I voted for him but I am in no way racist. But at least I'm not bashing people for it

I think that the SB rules need to include that any political talk not be allowed so that drama and arguing are kept out of the SB. I hope this is the correct forum place to post a new suggestion

Not surprising politics gets brought up during key dates.

About forbidding political talk, disagree. The scope is too broad, and since real life can have political elements, then that would not be allowed too.

If someone is very passionate about politics, there are tons of other places to speak out. The politicians are not going to log on Subeta, listen to your greatest idea or compliant, and change the course of history. Neither will the others be swayed by political drama here. Doing that in the SB is a waste of time.

I disagree with this Suggestion. The political Forum threads here in Subeta were deleted because users couldn't follow Subeta rules and not really because anything about politics/religion or restricting free speech. The Shoutbox is the remaining place here to do talk politics outside of your own private Forum Group.

If your feelings are hurt, Subeta DOES have a "be nice" rule. Report the offending posts.

Asking for new rules to be implemented because you can not be respectful toward others isn't the answer.

I don't agree with censoring topics that someone personally doesn't agree with as long as it isn't over the pg-13 restriction we have now. If a topic is bothering someone, it's up to that person to remove themself from the situation or do their best to change the topic.

If you feel attacked though, report it and let a UA see if anyone overstepped the community guidelines, and/or block the user(s) - at least temporarily.

You cannot censor people because they say things you don't like.

Politics is drama-inducing, and politics is always something people are going to talk about and fight over. There will always be someone who doesn't agree with you. If conversations in the SB are upsetting you, it's time to step away. This is the internet.... you always have a choice.

Censoring isn't the answer.

If it oversteps the rules of the community guidelines then, report it to a UA and they'll deal with it, but censoring all political talk as long as it isn't overstepping the community guidelines is impractical and not the answer.

Just turn off the sb and do your best to avoid seeing it if it is hurting you so much that you're going off on others about it. I loathe the idea of censoring it just because it is uncomfortable for some. I don't like a lot of ideas, but I don't think people should NOT share them just because I don't like it.

Forcing censorship on people isn't going to work. If it hurts you, close the SB and cool off. You can ignore them too since you have your own beliefs. Their opinion shouldn't matter at all.

tbh, Freedom of Speech is just the freedom to say any non-heinous speech we want without being censored by the government.

It doesn't really apply to the onlines.

That only means the government can't punish you for what you say (within reason. No 'fire' in a theater, no 'i have a bomb' at an airport, etc). You can still get banned from websites, fired from your job, kicked out of a restaurant, etc etc.

I concede, I pushed this one too much. I also edited my post since it doesn't apply in this issue.
