Didn't see a suggestion for this though I know it was talked about elsewhere.

I'd like to see created a way to return unclaimed gifts to their senders after subetans cannot get the gifts left under their trees any longer.

I have at least 5 people from 2015 who never picked up their gifts. Possibly at least one or two added to that this year. I thought they were playing at the time but obviously they weren't and the items sent I could use or send to other friends who may want them. Hate that they are just sitting in limbo.

If they were to come back, does the current system allow for them to retrieve the gifts? And is there a notification when someone leaves something under the tree without those notifications expiring? If so, I'm kinda against this. Sometimes things happen. I had a medical issue that contributed to me severely losing interest in most of the things I did online for quite a while. I went back to everything once it was under control, and it was nice being able to go back and see the things that had been left, from messages to gifts to sales.

One site I'm on, I've been a member for 10 years, we have a christmas thing kinda like how we do here, with Christmas trees, and users get an alert w/ a custom message when someone leaves something under their tree. If they don't retrieve their gifts by the time the winter stuff is taken down, they can contact staff to have things put in their inventory. There is no deletion of items, or sending back to the person who sent them.

If there isn't a way for them to retrieve them if they come back, and they're just perpetually in limbo, then I don't see why not. Or, if there is, but the user genuinely wouldn't know that there was a gift given, but it was taken back, then okay.

I'm in two minds about this. I too have unclaimed gifts sitting on a couple of accounts.

If someone I know said "I'm leaving Subeta" I would NOT expect them to return any gifts I'd given them over the years.

So how is it different for items under a tree that remain unclaimed? Well for one thing, the person never got those items, never enjoyed them, never used them, didn't even get the pleasure of feeling valued from receiving a gift.

On the other hand, if these people ever return, as did, I really would want them to have the gifts.

I guess, if the gifts ever become unclaimable by the recipient, I would definitely want them returned to me. But if they can remain indefinitely under the tree available to be claimed if the user ever returns, then I'd be happy to leave them there forever.

Maybe if the user deleted the account, or otherwise had their account permanently removed, the gifts could be returned to sender?

Accounts don't get removed like that, though, so it doesn't really work.

I definitely understand the feeling behind this, but I'm going to have to vote no. Like others said, maybe they just haven't been on in a while, it doesn't mean they won't EVER get back on.

I'm sorry the post came across as 'hey gimme my stuff back'. It was not intended.

I think of it more like I've sent something through the mail, but the person moved without a forwarding address so it gets returned.

Yeah, the person might pick up what I've put under their tree next year or the year after if they return to play, but then again they might not ever come back. Or maybe they only play in the summer or other times and their holiday time is too busy to play so again, they will never get their trees. I want them to have their gifts or I'd not have put them under their trees, but those items right now could benefit other friends or strangers and once my missing friends return to play I'd end up showering them with stuff anyway.

It was just a thought.
