Check out this guide here that has a lot of strategy/information on many opponents. Some opponents are definitely missing, but malerias familiar is there under the default challenger list. She deals a lot of dark icons, so you will want a good dark blocker like maniacal essence. Comet flash is a good alternative once you bump your defense up to 2,500. Her other big icons are probably wind or fire. Blessed trident is good for blocking wind and the perilous whirlpool scrolls can be used to block fire and give you the chance to freeze her. Other alternatives would be swashbuckle, natasha, or paint brush blades can also be helpful.

Oh, Maleria's Familiar! She's a toughie, even now that I've got around 2,600 per stat. That guide Wesker mentioned is really awesome, and I've used it in many cases. It's definitely worth consulting.

Personally, I start off freezing her along with a blast so that hopefully I can get a couple of turns where she doesn't damage me much. From there, I'll try to use my freezer scrolls. Due to her ability to block freezing part of the time, this only works sometimes. As my stats go up, it seems to work more often. That might be just what it seems, though.

After that, I'll move on to using my paintbrush blades & Natasha with either a cobalt eternal scroll or a sancturia exodin scroll. The following turn, typically I'll do a combination of Natasha & Gelatin Slayer, using a Galactic Beatdown scroll. I alternate between those last two moves until she's gone, throwing in the use of my Reviver of the Lion, Phoenix Quill & morosbane as needed.

She's still really tough, but I've managed to beat her several times. Good luck...
