With the release of The Last Guardian, has anyone played the game? Finished it? What do you think of it? And since the game only came out about a week ago, let's try to be nice with potential spoilers; perhaps use the spoiler tag if you want to mention something specific? Idk how some people get with spoilers but I personally try to avoid them like the plague lol.
I know the game has been in the works for what, 6-7 years? However, I never bothered to look into the game because I have never owned a PlayStation before. But a few months ago, I looked into it more and thought it looked really good. This game is part of the reason why my fiance and I got a PS4, but not the only reason of course.
I just finished the game earlier today. I looooved it. It's a beautiful game. The buttons can get a little wonky at times which can be frustrating in the moment, but I was able to easily look over it because Trico is so adorable. I mean, look at this majestic creature. (For those who may not be familiar with the game, Trico is the creature and the boy...well WAIT I don't think his name was ever mentioned!!)
I want to play it but I have a sinking feeling Trico meets an untimely end which make me very sad. lol

I'm currently watching jacksepticeye's playthrough on youtube and I'm IN LOVE with this game ;w; I haven't even seen the ending/played it myself yet but it's already become one of my favourites. ❤️
Apart from the controls/camera being difficult to use, it seems like such an amazing game! The music, the visuals, the way Trico's movements are so lifelike etc, I can really see why it took so long to make.
I'm pretty sure just about everyone expected Trico to die by the end of the game, but I won't be saying whether or not he actually does :P Don't want to spoil it! Lol
Jacksepticeye! I'm watching his playthrough as well because he's one of my favorite YouTubers. I love how much of a connection he has with Trico. I was watching the videos and then pausing them when he caught up to where I was, but now that I finished the game I can just watch through the whole episodes and enjoy them. So since you're watching his videos, does that mean you witnessed the suspenseful part a few episodes back where he made it through okay, only for his character to get thrown off of Trico? I'm sure you know what I'm talking about but I can be more specific if you're totally lost LOL. I literally lost it when it happened and re-watched that part several times xD
Oh the controls were definitely wonky. It was always so frustrating in the moment, especially something terrifying is happening lol. The camera screwed me up here and there as well. But those were my only real complaints. Some people complained about Trico not listening/doing what he pleases, but I didn't really have any problems with him. The AI in Trico is rather intelligent I thought.
I have been watching let's plays of it online and it looks amazing but I'm going to have to wait until it comes down in price.

Same! And yes I know which part you mean xD it made me laugh so hard, he just falls into the void asdlkjv
Yeah, they just needed to make those adjustments before releasing the game and it would've been perfect! And I can understand people's complaints about Trico not following commands straight away, but that's how it's supposed to be? I mean, Trico is an animal and they don't always do what you tell them to. c':
I hope you enjoy it if you do end up playing! ^^
Yea, I can't blame you there. It's a great game but it's not a long game. There's even a trophy to beat the game in less than 5 hours. I got the one for under 15 but that was because it was my first playthrough and I wanted to enjoy everything lol.
Ahhh it was one of my favorite moments on his let's play for the game. I think he mentioned it being popular on Reddit lol.
And yes exactly! I can say for sure my dog likes to listen to me only part of the time haha. If they wanted to fine-tune it to the point where Trico was completely responsive to everything, then it would still take years for the game to release lol.
(Also irrelevant, but I had no idea that the storm lasirus was a thing and omg that looks awesome.)
I literally just finished watching it! It's hard watching him get stuck on parts when I remember what to do, lol. It also brought back painful memories to watch over again omg.
Aww I can see that! Considering Trico is a 'turkey-bird-cat' thing, or however he actually calls him ahaha.
I've been waiting for this game for 7+ years and it was everything I ever wanted and more.
Finished the entire game in 3 days on and off and cried like a baby through the whole thing, especially with the true ending scene. It was absolutely worth it getting the collector's edition and is now in my top 5 games of all time. Trico and the boy have a relationship I think most games can only dream of establishing in a virtual world. They both felt real in how they moved and interacted with each other and the gorgeous environments.
The game is art, pure and simple, and I'm so happy Team Ico didn't give up on it. :)
Ahh your HA! I loooove it! Also I saw your other board for TC help for your little Trico and oh my gosh, finding items is hard. But I'll be sure to post when and if I find some stuff that might work!
I can't say I'm one of those people who have waited years and years for this game, but I'm glad I got a PS4 and was able to experience it myself. It took me a little under a week on and off because I only had a few hours to play each evening at the time. I agree, it's one of my favorite games now. Probably within top 5 as well.
The boy's and Trico's relationship felt quite real. I like how the boy gained Trico's trust and it continued to grow as the game progressed. It wasn't just like, BAM they were inseparable lol.
I watched it too! The whole time he was talking about what he thought would happen towards the end, I was like "Oh Jack, you have no clue" lol. I've been extremely curious as to how he would react towards the ending, and it was spot on with what I was expecting. But it was still hard to watch him.
Thank you! It took a bit of work to figure out, but I'm happy I got as close as possible to Trico with the items I could find and afford lol. Also tons of layer shenanigans haha.
Hehe thanks! I'm quite proud it reads as intended. Trico just won my heart so much that I had to try and make an HA.
But yeah the pacing was my absolute favorite bit of the game, I don't think I've ever seen a game pace out character interactions the way this game does. It really makes it stand out on its own and it hits HARD on the emotions lol.
Man tell me about it, I found all that I could through subetalodge for my wishlist in looking up items, but it is DIFFICULT. @-@ Any help later would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
Making HAs that resemble a character can be difficult. There's just so many wearables and it's hard to look through everything, or figure out what a name for something you're looking for may be.
Oh I agree. I've played so many games, like Mass Effect, where you go from being friends to all of a sudden having a relationship with them but it seemed like there was no in-between. As much as I love Mass Effect, the development between two characters seemed...fake at times (though I hear they're improving that for Andromeda, fingers crossed.) It felt so natural with The Last Guardian, so many props. I just wish we learned what the boy's name was, lol.
I'll probably give Subetalodge a look today or tomorrow. I had already attempted to look for something to work for the boy, but it seems like there aren't any humanoid minions that even closely resemble him.
