I...definitley did today. I just blew 22 mil on two 100 CC Gift Cards to get 700 CC, and then the custom item I planned on buying was a "private release"... I'm pretty upset because I really wanted the item. :,)

Anybody else have any experiences that were just as disappointing as this? Maybe even more?

I gave two awesome cash shop things to start off my Mysterious Melody, and got no response the entire day. Kinda disheartening, but... yaaaay Lumi.

That's a bummer about the custom item. Had it been previously marketed as something available to the public?

As for the Lumi, yeah it's generally a good idea to start off by gifting something a bit smaller, if only to confirm that they're actually participating. Save the cash shop stuff for those that seem to be actively playing. It's possible that the participant was a newer player that got overwhelmed by the idea of having to give CS stuff in return for your very generous gift.

I'm sorry to hear of your disappointing experience with Mysterious Melody! That's one of the reasons I don't participate in the Mysterious Melody system because it just leads to disappointment! Very few times, have I been fortunate enough to have a mysterious melody who is actually participating! Have had a few experiences, but they're rare!

the thing i've been most disappointed with was the Reborn Montre revamp. Thorxn was a pet i created in honour of a very good friend of mine (and on their birthday too), and when i saw the revamp i was totally bummed. don't get me wrong, total kudos to the artist and all that, the flames are amazing, and the darker colouring is cool, but the feeling behind the facial expression is not the same any more, and that is the most important thing for me. so then i figure, oh well, i'll read up about custom overlays, and just see if i can go back to the old art. as it turns out, one of the rules about overlays is you can't use unaltered official subeta artwork, which i guess the old art would come under. and besides that, it's going to cost me 500CSC, and i can't draw digital art for shit so yaaay. it makes me really wish for an option to choose whether you want your pet to be transferred to the new art, or to keep the old art, because not having a choice in the matter kinda sucks.

but anyway, HAPPY LUMI!

What I did to go around that was to make 3 subtle changes. See my pet Termer? When they made the new bloodred fester, it just didn't suit my character like... at all. So what I did was clean up some of the blood spots, changed the hair colour and added sunglasses to match his character and it got accepted! So maybe you could look into that? Just an idea!

thanks for the suggestions, and it's really good to hear they will accept something with minor changes! i'm not terrible at drawing with the ol' pencil and paper, so if i get my act together i was thinking of drawing up something in between both versions and commissioning someone to colour it for me. so it's not all bad i guess. after all, i'll end up with something truly awesome and unique, just like the person i made him for ^^
