So, I didn't see this thread around!

Would you prefer to go to a concert of a local or of a famous band? Why?

For me, it's totally local bands because I like to hear new music. I also really love to talk with bandmembers about music and what inspires them, and famous bands wouldn't give you much of their time anyway. :P

I would rather go to a small local concert, like in a little pub or something. It's because I cannot stand light shows and the like, it's making me feel sick. :I

Local bands win, except in the rare occasion a semi-famous band is playing in a small venue. I don't like crowds and hate stadium concerts, which isn't a problem because I'm not really into bands that are big enough to pull them off anyway :D

Also, since I live in a small place and have played with a couple of bands myself, there's usually a friend (or several) on stage ^^

famous band. most of the genres i like are dying out, so a "local" band of that genre just...does not exist. so i'd rather go see one of my already established bands.

It's a toss up for me. If I'd been asked a few years back, I would've said local band 100%, but this city murdered the local music scene with a whole bunch of noise ordinances/refusing to renew permits and such, so...

I guess I'd have to say famous bands now. At least I can be introduced to new music by opening bands I've never heard of, and the openers usually are more down to hang out and talk to people anyway since they aren't the main event. I love seeing famous bands in small venues though. Arenas aren't my thing. Clubs and theaters please. lol

Where I'm from, there are a few houses that put on basement shows with local bands, and I'd rather go there as opposed to big shows
