I wasn't sure where to put this, so I just put it in Pricing Assistance for now.
So this will be my first time taking commissions. I've taken my cues on pricing from other artists and friends (who are also artists) so tbh I don't have much trouble there.
What I'm not entirely sure on is how to accept payment, especially USD (I think I have a vague notion of how paying with CSC works.) I've been procrastinating on opening up my art shop because of this. I tried looking online but most of what I found were guides on how to buy art.
I know it's through Paypal but how? Do I send the client a link or something? Do we exchange emails? How do I make invoices? I'm really sorry if these are dumb questions, but I really don't know and I thought it'd be better to ask than fumble around Paypal and make mistakes :C
You sign up for a Paypal account using an email address. That email address is essentially your Paypal username.
Your Paypal is kinda like a little bank account of its own. You can link bank accounts to it, and transfer money into your Paypal account. You can also transfer money from your Paypal account into your bank accounts.
When it's time for someone to pay you, you need to give them your Paypal email address. Then:
If they have a Paypal account, they can select "Send money to friends and family" and input your email address. If they pay you with their Paypal balance, it's free for both of you. Otherwise, I believe it will charge them a small fee (to transfer the money from their bank account or card).
If they don't have a Paypal account, the easiest way is for them to make an account (it's free). But you can also go through Paypal to make a "Buy now" or "Donate now" button to put on a website - If they click that button, they can give you money with a credit card without having a Paypal account.
The money you receive will go into your Paypal account, which you can then transfer into a linked bank account free of charge.
