so i tried drawing digitally years ago, and it didn't go too well. well, now it's going on 2017 and i've decided that's my goal for the year. i have a new drawing tablet arriving in the mail r.i.p. my wallet and i'd like to get some wholesome practice from you guys because, tbh, i have no creativity whatsoever.

i would prefer if you had a reference image, but good descriptions work just as well. gives me a challenge, and i love a good challenge.

i can guarantee something if i take a liking to your character/idea/etc! odds are i'm going to stick to flat-shading or black and white. i might experiment and it will most likely look terrible and i'm sorry in advance.

not very good at boys or anthro- characters but i'm willing to give them a shot. this process is about gaining experience and defining my own style, after all.

Hey. :D Maybe try Dardariel or Darell Candiatis? They are basically the same character, just one of them's an angel, the other one's fallen and trying to pass for a human. You said you aren't good with men, but Dardariel is very androgynous, supposed to be somewhat similar to greek woman statues. And a 4-page little comic for some more references, though honestly I feel like the portrait on his Charahub page is more canon than anything I've ever drawn of him. Darell basically just...looks like an older, more tired and sickly Dardariel with a beard. His clothing would probably be something like this with feathers of jays or other wild birds affixed to his hat.

Or failing that perhaps Nimue Jakande? She's got a LOT of text on her charahub and I don't expect anyone to actually read through that. Suffice to say that she's a roleplay character who's basically a blind hipstergirl-turned-superhero.

Oooor...failing that, maybe a sketch of her cousin Tatenda Jakande? Looking immensely bored on his phone, probably. He's part of a made-up subculture that basically fills the societal role of goths, but with a white-blue-silver colorscheme, moon symbology and a bigger relevance of stylistically "tattered" clothing. And you can go mad with his piercings if you like.

If any of them interest you I can probably give pose or expression ideas, if not then that's fine by me. XD

:D Of course! I just finished writing up his description the other day, and you can find it here. As for his personality - he's very bitter and angry, especially towards humans, with a snarky and biting attitude even towards the few people he considers friends. He isn't very nice and will pick on his friends quite a bit, but he's very protective of them also, and honestly worries about them a lot - which tends to fuel his temper, which he doesn't have the best hold over. He never shows, preferring to hide it behind a mask of laziness, but he's also very lonely - especially in the course of his story when he's captured by humans and separated from his (very defenseless) best friend.

I hope that helps some, I kind of suck at writing personality descriptions. OTL I'm glad he interests you though!

Sorry, Nimue isn't really into meditation or yoga. She might try either as part of working some kind of light-magic but she's not really predisposed to it. XD I'd rather imagine her attempting combat with guns or light-magic, or interacting with a glowy-eyed coyote, maybe reading braille or doing sort of...either semi-calm or magic-related actions.

If you still want stretchy, meditative or pretzel-y yoga poses then perhaps I could suggest Xiaofan instead? She's knowledgeable in classical chinese dances and she's hella flexible and has done her share of both meditation and yoga-like stretching.

I /never/ say no to free art, so when mentioned this thread I demanded she ping me. Alas, most of my references and details are not accessible at the moment, but I do have three ladies who would benefit from some artsy things, if you're interested. <3

~Cas (Casara Talbot), a traumatized, anxious, withdrawn, and often frightened girl in her mid/late teens. She crossdresses for various reasons including safety when working -- she's a courier, running messages around a city filled with monsters. She's haunted by a creature that lives in shadows and is tied to her. It often torments her by twisting her perception, but at least it doesn't kill everyone that comes near her anymore. She's quite good at hiding her fear in general, but she refuses to let people get close, and is often brusque, but this is to cover shyness and a friendly nature that she knows will get her in trouble with those around her, if not because of the demon lurking in her shadow. She's not as successful as she would like at staying uninvolved with others, but she does her best. She's a tall young lady, lean and wiry with narrow hips and a small bust that she does bind flat in her male guise. She is rather androgynous, and falls somewhere between mildly cute and unremarkably plain, with an upturned nose and shadowed grey eyes.

HA reference half finished drawing of mine is her hair, and it's dead accurate.

The demon, Shakti, is usually in her shadow and only visible to Cas while there, just a vague outline and glowing eyes. When it manifests, it is a towering humanoid with things that might be wings on its back, and long, sharp claws instead of fingers. It is still merely a dark and featureless form, save for the glowing eyes. (no need to draw the demon, though, that's just in case you want to add it or something)

~Lady Alyssana Grey, a mid-twenties woman on a mission of vengeance. She's cold and ruthless, though she once was far kinder. Anger and irritation are her most common emotions now, as her pain has been locked away. She sees people as tools, including herself. Her hair is an ash blonde or dusty brown, always tied back from her face. She's from Victorian London (though an alternate version), and dresses accordingly. She favors dark greys and navies, for her clothing, and modest clothing with simple or understated designs. The same goes for any jewelry, though she doesn't wear much. Her expression is usually aloof, often cold and detached, though she does smirk or show mild amusement. She is supremely confident, and will not be dissuaded from her path. She knows the consequences of her actions, even the immoral ones, and has accepted them. There is nothing she won't sacrifice for vengeance. It's very difficult to throw her. She's clever and very /very/ dangerous, even to "friends" -- and she doesn't see anyone as a friend, merely acquaintances that perhaps she does enjoy the company of, but who she will cut ties with or even get rid of if they get in her way. Not a happy character, Alys. She's charming in her own way, and can play a part well enough to convince most people, but underneath it lies someone with nothing to lose and precious little to gain. Above all, she is very /intense/.

~Amuné, a nineteen-year-old Seer. She's my current HA (brown angled bob, grey eyes, black/grey/white outfit with accents). She's in excellent shape, physically, with a solid build. She can be wary around people, even pushing them away deliberately in some cases. She also acts very self-assured but in reality she's not as together as she tries to act. Unfortunately, my HA is the only ref I have at the moment. =/
