Starting about yesterday I guess, a bunch of threads that I've never even looked at are suddenly not showing the little "new post" icon thing that they usually do. Like the site is registering them as read for some reason when I've never even touched them. Even some brand new threads have been automatically showing up this way.
It's not all threads though. If I scroll down in any forum there will be some posts that I haven't read that do have the recent post icon. I have no idea what the determining factor is in which ones do and which ones don't though.
And then there are some threads that I've been keeping up with that ARE working properly, and will show the recent post icon whenever there is new stuff (as they should).
I hope this isn't just happening to me, and I hope I explained well enough what the issue is.
I'm using Chrome.
[edit]This appears to be fixed as of December 3
I am also having this problem. I'm on firefox.
I'm also having this problem. I posted it in the Friend Feed bug report, because I thought the two issues were linked. It's pretty impossible to keep up with the forums this way.
Here's what I posted: And I don't know if it's linked, but I'm also having issues with the link to "Goto most recent unread post" not showing up when new posts are made. I tested it in the GA forum. I haven't been to that forum in weeks, and on the 4 threads where posts were made today, only one showed the "unread" link, the 3 others I supposedly already read (which I didn't).
I noticed this happening to me on the Advertising and on the Human Avatar forums too. I'm using Google Chrome Canary.
I noticed this too and I was confused. At first I thought they changed it to "if you've ever seen this thread now it won't have the icon" since I was in advertising and thought "well maybe I did click on those threads before." but then I went to the entertainment/games forum and a lot of threads I know I've never clicked on didn't have the icon.
I'm on firefox.
I posted about it yesterday on the "Forum Issues" topic. It seems some boards are better than others. This board ("Site Functionality") is showing that I've read everything and I definitely have not. While the "Games" board was showing perfectly normal.
Happening here too (Firefox). The weird thing is that it's not happening to ALL threads like last time, sometimes as I'm scrolling there will be one or two threads halfway down the page that aren't marked but everything else on the thread will be, whether I've looked at it or not.
Yeah, that's what I've noticed too. I have no idea why it would be working for some but not the rest.
I'm having this too.
Oddly, it only seems to be affecting threads I have NEVER read. The few threads that don't seem to have this problem are ones I HAVE read before, but not recently (there have been new posts since I last read them).
I just noticed this last night. And yeah it seems it's just new posts I've not looked at yet.
Using latest Chrome.
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin
"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
I browse nearly 10 forum categories, and to my memory they all have this problem. x . x
Same as above. I'm using Chrome on a Macbook, if that matters.
they/them/theirs, please.
After two weeks, still no further information whatsoever on this? Has this been reported? Is this being looked into? I find it quite difficult to navigate the forums if I can't find out which threads I have read and which not.
Yep, this is still happening to me too.
Especially with brand new threads showing as read even though they were just created and I've never looked at them before.
Yep, this is still happening and it's REALLY annoying.
Still happening here too: it's getting tough to sort out the threads I'm actually caught up on from those that simply aren't displaying the unread icon.
they/them/theirs, please.
Has this at least been reported? It's been weeks already.
[edit] Over a month later, still no news, still happening.
