How does the rarity thing work?

Are there still a certain number for each rarity bracket or is it completely random? I have been away for a while so I have no idea :(

I'm not certain what the exact chances for lower-rarity items are, but anything Rare is guaranteed one crystal, and Super Rares at least one but possibly up to three, I think.
