I have always preferred to have a "Snooty" (Or "Neutral" depending how you look at it) facial expression on my own avatar. It not only feels right for me but it also what I perceived as cool. Back in my old, pre 5 year hiatus I just came back from, Subeta days, the most prominent users of the day always had contempt expressions. So at least from my perspective, that was a sign of being extremely cool.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE seeing avatars with happy, warm, and inviting facial expressions. Compared to years ago, this actually seems to be the norm now. I assume this is due to all of the "new", fantastic makeup items on the site - especially lip items. But honestly, seeing so many happy and inviting expressions kind of makes me insecure. It gives me just a tad bit of anxiety that people will see my HA's expression and accidentally associate it to my personality. Which would only be natural in my opinion. Seeing smiling, warm expressions on other's avatars in the forums makes me feel invited and safe, it would make sense for my expression to do the opposite...? ;;

Do you have a preference for your avatar's facial expression? Snooty, happy, or does it depend? Do you find yourself subconsciously shying from people with snooty avatars, or am I totally making that up and snooty is still in?

I love playing with the different expressions a HA can have.

My avatar's emotions usually don't echo my own, its just basically composed of items that are aesthetically pleasing together...

But lovely idea for a discussion, I'll probably be stalking this post. c:

I associate neutral / "snooty" with fierce haha :P but I don't really have a bias against or for users using any facial expression

I think more of my avs have been neutral or snooty than flat out nice

personally I like to use more neutral / mysterious ones like my current delish noel eyes + smile like am I happy or sad bc my eyes say one thing and my lips say another?? lol xD

I definitely enjoying playing around with facial expressions, mostly enjoying neutral/daydreamer/blank expressions over others, but I don't usually base users personality on their avatar alone.

I do think avatars can help showcase someones creative expression, but I don't think it determines it! I wear mainly neutral colors irl but I always enjoy dressing my HA up in brighter/funky colors! So a neutral expression may or may not be a good indicator of a personality - so I always feel it's always best to get to know the person first before basing an opinion on an avatar. ;P

I play around a lot with the facial expressions that my HAs have. Don't think I have ever judged anyone based on their HA's expression before.

I totally get that! Certain items just look better with others :)

Ooh fierce is definitely a good way to describe it. And i totally see what you mean by eyes say one thing, lips say another. It adds a ton of character to your avatar! (of which I am loving the cute, homey animal lover vibes)

Haha for sure! I'm happy the consensus so far is judgement free :D Gotta love that anxiety. But still a good conversation topic like mentioned! Same here with different colors here vs real life. In real life I tend to dress in earthy colors, sometimes pastel, while I seem to be more attracted to dark and royal colors on Subeta :)

Playing around with different emotions seems to be another consensus!

I know what you meant in your original post -- my account is rather old and my activity here fluctuated throughout that time. There are more neutral mouth expressions, but it's harder to find made-up lips that aren't snooty, but I love my current wear: Love love these: But something vaguely pouty/disappointed/snooty about even a gloss like [Item=Cherry Lip Stain]

I almost never have my HA with a silly or surprised expression but I make the goofiest IRL in conjunction with my resting bitch face, haa!

I don't use smiles. The closest thing to a "smile" I use is the and , but the Lililace can look more mischievous or "haughty" depending on the eyes. Same with the Dream tints; paired with the D.E.V.I.L.L.E. eyes or the Peka-Boo mascara item (those hella fierce eyes, augh. Them brows tho...), it looks more haughty than anything. Otherwise, I stick to very "meh" lips. These Delish lips look like a slight hint of a smile, more so paired with the Delish Tor eyes, which is perfect because LOL I DON'T LIKE SMILING IN PICTURES.

I think I look stupid smiling IRL, so perma-RBF and/or sarcastic smirks. :c I am unreadable emotionally. And just can't utilize the smile lips we have like others... So neutrality/fierceness/IDGAF lips are my best friend.

As for my own avatar, I like the facial expression they have now, so I don't think I'll change it any time soon. I don't really like smiles or most lip items, but I wasn't going for a snooty look, at least. Just something more... distant? Mostly because it felt like it fit with the mask, and I really like the mask.

Now I'm curious. What's the Peka-Boo mascara item called? I want to see what it looks like.

- Nah, I don't see neutral expressions as being snooty nor do I judge someone by their avatar.

I like making smiling or bashful looking HAs, because I specialize in cute HAs. I love and color variants, and my favorite lip item is . Rarely, I use and color variants.

I always want to match the only eyes I use: , and they tend to look weird with neutral expressions or larger lips.

Though, in HA contests where I'm not restricted by what I own, I use different eyes and neutral expressions a lot since they work best with the HA.

This is interesting and I totally feel where you're coming from, hah. For me, I almost always use the same two mouth items, though and use the eyes for "expression". I feel like you can get so many different emotions out of using different eye items with the same mouth item!

I don't think I've ever really judged someone by their HA. I typically go with whatever "feels right" for my outfit, and if that happens to be a smile or a smirk then I roll with it!

Avatars, to me, are supposed to tell a story with their designs. Facial expressions are what help sell the overall feel of the HA, and if you prefer one face over another, then that is all good in my book! I personally don't pass judgment on the expression of anyone's HA myself, just because we're all different people here, with very different tastes and styles. It's all about how YOU roll! <3

For ultimate pout factor with lips, may I suggest my current to assist you? Though, of course, most of the pout factor is lost when layered with the fangs I have on. ^^;
