Joined. Gosh. Nine years ago? I was fairly active back in the good ol' days, when long cat got the site all in a tizzy, and many other memorable oddities made this place really stand out. But life does as it will, and I moved several times, both across the country and through the interwebs, just to end up with an itch to come back. I've decided to begin in the welcome forums because I've missed.. Well. A lot. It's like riding a bike, only now the bike has bells and whistles and plot I didn't get to enjoy.
I am 27, and have two kitties. I am a freelance artist, and a disgruntled dayjobber who is also starting a blog and is exceptionally good at time wasting. I am hoping to offer art and comradity for the same, and just wanted to say hells yes to being back. Looking to get (re)aquainted with the many lovely users of ye old subeta.
Cheers!
Hello! I've come back after a 2 year hiatus - been on subeta for 4, I think? I'm still working out what's going on with the updated site since I left!
I'm 23, currently signed off work due to mental health and looking to fill in endless hours! I'm a writer, and I'm trying to improve my art skills - because I couldn't draw to save my life :P I'm also looking to find new (or old) friends on here, if you'd like to chat feel free to comment or PM~ I love making new friends!
Welcome back to subeta!
Welcome back. Things have changed a bit since you've been on, all for the better.
Aye, thanks! I will no doubt be in touch. :3
Yes, so far it definitely seems to run smoother. Many more games now, as well, eh?
Yes there are. You came back at a good time. Subeta's anniversary starts this month along with Keel Hauliday. There are also holidays from now up until April/May.
Welcome back! I came back a few weeks ago myself, also from a long hiatus. Outside of the major sP amounts, things have really been tweaked for the better. Enjoy!!
I'm back after a very long break as well - someone managed to grab one of my pet's names due to inactivity so that'll teach me I guess lol. There's a new plot just started so I guess you're back in time :)
- Niiice! Sounds like it should be entertaining, haha. I love that the customer wearables and overlays have been realized now also. :)
- Yeah, but I remember sP being a bit volatile then as well. Though I also remember having like 30-50 mil was a ton.
- Ack. I lost a pet name also. It was nice that we were given the chance to rename the pet though.
One pet name lost isn't too bad I suppose, and I can't blame someone for having amazing taste ;) What kind of art do you do? I tend to go through phases, and most of the time I feel like anything I do isn't good enough so I just rage quit and move on to some other fad (writing, knitting, gaming...etc).
- Erm. The easy answer is mixed media. I draw, and then digitally ink pieces, which I then laser print and cut out. Some of these are adhered directly to the background, which is usually a patinated wood panel. Others are pasted on a layer or two of foamcore so they stand and different heights off the panel. The printouts are embellished by hand with anything from watercolor and ink, to acrylic, to colored pencil, and charcoal. The backdrops are made with acrylic paint with suspended metal flakes that react to certain chemicals.
...It's really hard to just describe, so let me figure out how, and I'll post an image.
Wow that sounds amazing, I would definitely love to see some of your work :) Sorry about the late reply, managed to get a few part time shifts so had to go back to being a grownup for a bit there.
- It happens. Adulting is always fun.... Haha, I have no idea how to post pics though. :o
You'd need to host it somewhere like imgur or photobucket or something like that, and then post the link :)
Haha I feel silly. It's always strange coming back to things like this and just forgetting everything. Ugh. Link forthcoming.
Lets see if that works
Oh wow that's stunning! I can see why it's hard to describe what you do, but really it's absolutely beautiful! <3
Thanks! I sold that set at a show and was thrilled. I had a friend who kept saying that selling the three as a set was a bad idea and was pressuring me to lower the price and sell each panel individually but I didn't want to. I made them to be a set, you know? But it sold the first day and he was very resentful. That part was a bummer, but it was encouraging that the work caught someone.
Do you have any examples of what you do?
Welcome back to Subeta! Look forward to seeing your work in the Art Market! :D
