Everyone has mixed feelings about the results and all sides of it are welcome here. I hope to keep this thread a respectful collection of suggestions for improvement.
I see there is a lot of disagreement over whether winning absolutely nothing would have been better than the new "booby prizes," due to the notification in the sidebar itself and the risk of it "getting someone's hopes up." That's relative; some people will experience that feeling and some won't. So I don't think there's a clear answer as to whether either view is correct. People are always entitled to feel however they feel. In general I think the additional prizes might have been a mistake, although they did make the "unlucky" title possible. But the title "unlucky" itself even works against the context because I assume the majority of its recipients feel VERY lucky to have gotten it.
All that said, at the end of the day it's still a raffle! It's a raffle on Subeta, and the first of its kind. The additional prizes made sense as a last minute choice after seeing the sheer volume of entries. So let's take the opportunity to give some suggestions.
If the "unlucky" title wants to continue, I suggest it stay the same. Everyone likes forum titles. Perhaps, if the next raffle had more time for planning, the "booby prize" section could be replaced with something such as: -A collection of multiple items (maybe different color variations) themed as a booby prize. Let's say it was a T-shirt that says "SUMMER RAFFLE 2016," or something even cooler if the raffle had an official name. I don't think so many people would be upset with that because it would be exclusive, but just common enough to qualify as a booby prize.
What are your thoughts? :)
I think perhaps the number of prizes intended to go out should be withheld until the number of total entries is known so that the numbers can be calculated appropriately. I'm personally very glad that staff decided to add in more prizes at all (I won four times, but they were all last-minute additional prizes), but I can definitely see how it's a bummer to enter a contest advertising CSC/CWs/referral points, see you won, and then get nothing but an r20 restockable.
People are going to complain regardless, but I think adjusting the odds on the advertised prizes (which should have a fairly cheap tier from the get-go to avoid the element of surprise that's in play here) to a proportionate level might draw less criticism than throwing in a bunch of cheaper stuff in when that was never on the table previously.
But I do think staff did a pretty good job this time around. The raffle was fun, I got some free stuff that I liked/needed, it was a positive experience overall.
Also I just received a gift box with some WL items and adorable quote, so if Anonymous sees this, thank you SO much!!!
