I'm just curious here: I always keep an extra pet slot in order to adopt, zap, and abandon a pet when it has a good colour. I've abandoned blacklight, glade and harvest pets, you name it. I never bought extra pet slots, always got them from loyalty box or awards.

Lately though...

I adopted Ephi, cute name, sounds a bit like mine. She got zapped into a Chibi Bumbus. I immediately fell in love with it. Cute name, and now a cute colour, and a species I didn't have yet, so I'm keeping her. Spend 20 mil in the MC for another pet slot, so I could keep zapping. Then I adopted Yevgeny. Zapped him for a while, and the name kinda grew on me. I thought a Russian name would be fitting for a glacier pet, and I had my eye on the Glacier Legeica. Potioned it, and keeping it. Spend another 40 mil in the MC for a pet slot, so I could keep zapping. Now I adopted Cocoon. Zapped for a day, and he turned into a Chibi Tutani. Another species I didn't have yet (I don't want any 2 pets of the same species), and very cute zap. Keeping him as well? Yeah, just spend 60 mil in the MC for another slot to keep zapping.

Are there others here who adopt, zap and abandon? Do you often end up keeping the pet, or can you manage to abandon without regret every time? Tell me your tips and tricks, before I end up buying more pet slots!

I only adopted one pet for zapping that I in the end kept and that was Coretta. The reason wasn't even that I liked her too much as a Spectrum Jollin but that she has a crazy ID (981981) and that she is one of the 1969 glitch pets.

Apart from that I just zap and pound without looking back.

I have done that SO many times. Most of the time I am lucky enough to have extra slots but I know this feeling all too well. xD The trick is to pick up the pets that you know you will not like. Like names with spaces if you are like me! And if you get a good zap, someone usually will pick it up!

That indeed helps! I'd never keep a pet with numbers in the name, or has a fanpet name or something. But when I see a decent name in the pound that's been there for a while, I just can't resist, thinking a nice colour would make someone very happy to adopt it. Lately it's just me that's happy to keep them. :P

Holy cow, you have 71 pets, that's amazing! I didn't even realise you could own that much. It must be easier to abandon them when you already have so many pets, though! ;)

And thinking that only recently, in that pop-up instant message from staff asking about prizes, I said that pet slots didn't interest me all that much, I'd rather have referral points... I TAKE IT BACK. Now I want slots for every event/plot/whatever!

Oh man, I'm exactly the same. I created Budd to zap and then adopt out but he became this experiment and I love it! Then I created Daisey and tried to zap for a cute glade to adopt out but the name really grew on me so I kept her too! I've now got Nickolai but I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep him because I have no willpower haha! I'm not cut out for adopting out pets, I get too easily attached.

@ Evy I have the same problem. Usually I can put them back in the adoption center but sometimes it's hard.

I actually created Putin just for zapping, he was on an abandoned account, but after I joked about it with a friend he kind of ended up staying. Shizen was kind of the same thing. Heylel and Llyn I ended up keeping but changed their names.

Now I have Gelos that I'm fighting with myself over. I don't care for the name (it's too close to Giuliano for me) so that's a plus on the abandoning part. I'm going to see where I'm at when it's time to zap again.

Edit: Alright I did it. I was able to abandon Gelos. I did love what I zapped him into but I don't need him.

lol I try but I run into the same problem as you. OR I end up finding a super cute color/name pet (Like Moonblast) and adopt that instead. XD

I don't zap and pound. I just like keeping what I have : D One of each species that I like, and now I'm pretty happy. This may change in the future, of course...

I've zapped and pounded, when I first started. I realize now that I had awesome pet names back then. Every time I created, used a potion and when I didn't want them anymore I put them in the pound. It seemed like my pets held a curse because every time someone adopted my pet, they would get iced. Every time.

I haven't zapped and pounded in awhile. I was thinking of doing it again.

I pretty much bought all my pet slots with CSC (and the slots in the MC for SP). I've used my loyalty boxes for slots too.

It used to happen to me all the time... then I just gave up and kept the pets I was 'fostering'.

(Thankfully, I have better luck giving up the cats I foster IRL! XD)

I adopt/zap/abandon quite a bit, yeah. Though I'm really attached to Barenaked Ladies and Post Malone for the memes, so I need to grab another slot.

I don't usually end up zapping and abandoning, I usually find a pet in the pound with a good name and keeping it until I decide what I want to do with it, but zap it just for fun. Although there was a time recently when I zapped a random pet from the pound (named Hovercraft) and he turned into a Nightmare Montre. Coincidentally I also have a common Montre that I wanted to turn Nightmare and I thought it was kind of funny. I was REALLY tempted to spend the CSC to swap their names but my bf convinced me not to lmao.

I just got back from a several year hiatus and I've been adopting/zapping/abandoning but now I'm likely keeping Revo and just adopted Otus, who's name I love. So much for having extra space, haha. My last rescue just went back into the pound this morning, first zap and she became dark matter with a species change so hopefully she'll find a new home. :)

It's the sole reason I keep playing this game. I adopted Elusive Dreams and it got turned into a Storm Celinox. And I had a minion called Dream in my inventory, so XD

I enjoy adopting out interesting pet colors. I figure there are people who can’t afford to do the same and maybe one of those pets will be their favorite color or something.

Recently I adopted Lovetron and zapped him. Right off the bat he became a Spectrum Keeto, which I adored, but I already had a spectrum pet as well as a blacklight so... I zapped him again. Originally he was meant to be adopted out, but that name... So, keeping him, I adopted Morvoren intending to zap and release. Now it’s Chibi Experiment . Like, the zapper knows just what it takes to make me keep pets. That’s how I ended up with quite a few pets.

I love doing the adopt-zap-abandon thing, did it for the other virtual pet site games I played too. I think the only one I ended up keeping was "Cleomines" because they turned into a Qrykee and I was like "oh no, I've been wanting one... but I shouldn't get attached... I'd only like... idk Vibrant or Arid maybe" and the next zap, they turned Vibrant. I had to keep them. Renamed them too. (As of now, they've been changed off of Vibrant Qrykee and they're vacationing with a friend while I work on an achievement, but they're a perm pet now and I love them.)
