[img align=left] https://i.imgur.com/iiFys1T.png [/img]”Welcome everyone to Charms Club! My name is Gaia and this term I have the pleasure of being your club captain. This is the very first meeting of this club in some time, so I hope I do it justice!” Moving closer to the blackboard she continued “we will be meeting in Professor Norman’s Charms classroom every Monday, with the exception of charms that would require more space for us to practice, for now we will stick to the basics, and assess our skill level. This will help us in strengthening our weaker spells and building confidence when casting spells. After all it is all about the wand movement!”

Gaia stepped away from the blackboard, took her wand out and did a few swift movements making her wand shoot sparks in the house colors. Another abrupt wand movement and some mumbling and the classroom filled with the roar of a lion, the sound of a serpent, the call of an eagle, and the rustling of a badger. Gaia didn’t realize her tongue was sticking out a little while concentrating. “Ah yes” standing straight and putting her wand down. “I wanted to show off! Rest assured I had to practice with a stick all summer and it was only a few days ago I got it to work. It still needs work, but you get the idea! This club is a place to learn about your individual power and become one with your wand!”

Grabbing a quill and piece of parchment to the table she added “Here is the sign-up sheet for those interested in joining the club this term. Please include your name, charms you are interested with, and maybe even what skill level you feel you have. For example is your strength with moving objects, or creating things. Add to the sign-up sheet whatever you would like to share with me about Charms and what you would like to do in the club!” grinning she moved to a table on the left of the classroom to arrange the foods and drinks the house elves brought for them.

CAPTAIN POST

((PLEASE READ: Post like this one will be the way in which sessions will be divided. I figured this system will help when we get busy and are many thread pages into the club. Hopefully this will help us all! Magnus arrived carrying a huge stack of books and looking a little haggard. He was also slightly out of breath as he'd quickly gathered his books and belongings into his bag and raced out of the library. Charms was one of his favourite subjects and he loathed to miss a moment. "'Ey Gaia!" he said with some pauses to pant. "'Ow you?" The boy took a few moments to locate his quill so he could sign up.

Magnus Lee, Ravenclaw: Interested in learning Cheering charms and things useful in healing. Skill level, good at summoning, colour changing and animation charms.

Aria ran into the room and took her seat, quite breathless. "Ok, I'm here," she whispered to herself. Dax perked up and looked over at Magnus, who'd already been in the room -- he had apparently been on time t the club meeting. Aria followed Dax's gaze and upon noticing Magnus, she smiled and waved at him. Aria noticed the sign in sheet and got up and penned her name the paper. She could not think of any charms off the top of her head at the moment, with a shrug she walked back and sat next to Magnus. "My older brothers used to hate when I'd follow them around," she commented. "So I hope you don't mind me sitting next to you," she gently jabbed him in his side with her elbow while grinning.

((OOC: This will probably sound fake/like a cop out but i assure you it is not. I want to RP and be involved, it's just incredibly hard. I get really bad migraines from LED/Fluorescent lights and looking at my phone or computer (or tv or anything like those or with fluorescent lights) really makes me extremely sick and miserable. If I take forever to respond or disappear for stretches at a time, my migraines are the cause. I will get on and be as active as I can as soon as I can!))

Magnus petted Dax, scratching his head like he did with Kippers. He waved and watached as she filled out the sheet. "Course not," he said brightly, "I'm 'appy ta 'ave the company. 'Sides I'm used to about 10 or more little 'uns following me about when I lived in the orphanage. It's quite nice ta 'ave ya wanna be 'round me." He gave her a little bump mimicking her elbow jab. "Plus, I like you around too."

((ooc: I have migraines. Sometimes people don't believe me that I've had a migraine for a month long--but especially in the spring and summer I do. I'm a weather head so I'm prone to them with the shifting weather and storms--then get them cos of stress, cos of allergies...cos I'm breathing lol So I totally get that. And its also why I don't always reply when I am online cos I'm not able to think clearly enough.))

Amanda came into the class room and was happy to see a familiar face (or two). She waved at . "Hi." She made her way to , "Sorry, if I seem to be following you, I'm not stalking you I swear." She joked, and winced realizing the joke wasn't really funny. "I get nervous near new people and tend to say the first thought that comes to mind."

She set her stuff down and fished out a quill. Amanda, Ravenclaw: Interested in learning crafty charms (knitting, etc) and basically everything; beginner skill level but first attempt at knitting with wand did result in a scarf that is impossible to lose.

((ooc... & : This seems to be the migraine club lol. I totally believe that you've had month long migraines ; I've had migraines daily since I was in grade school (they've lessened over the years but the odd uber painful flare up still likes to visit)... I also suffer from allergies and scent sensitivities (which in turn trigger headaches). As for my attendance, I'm new to the whole RP, so be patient, it takes me awhile to come up with a response.))

Aria giggled and thought about how wonderful it was to be part of a family and have a brother again. She sighed happily and watched as Dax enjoyed being pet by Magnus. "You know, I think that he really likes you now, whereas before he just liked seeing you flare up at his presence."

Aria laughed at the joke that Amanda made to Magnus; she liked the girl's sense of humor already. Aria watched her sign in and then gestured for her to come back over. "Hello, I don't believe that we've met." she said while smiling broadly. "My name is Aria Quin, and this snowy owl griffin is Dax," she said while gesturing to the griffin being petted into trance like oblivion by Magnus. "What is your name?" She asked the new student.

((OOC: It does seem that migraines in general are quite a common occurrence. I've had daily migraines since I was 14, though I did not know what they were until about 6 years ago. They got exponentially worse about 4 years ago and now I have them all day every day, unless I strictly avoid all light sources (except incandescent and the Sun), which I am never quite able to do. My migraines also have a different range of symptoms than most peoples' migraines, and trigger than most. But I know a lot of people who suffer with migraines now (because of subeta). Do you do anything to control your migraines or take anything for them? Have you guys been to see a neurologist about them? I have another appointment with a neurologist soon.))

"'E seems more keen to be near me," Magnus said with a nod. "And I ain't afraid 'o them anymore I don't fink." Amanda joined them. "Its only natural," Magnus said with a chuckle, "I me I'm so fetching everyone wants to be wif me." Then he became a little more serious and said, "Dont mind at all really. Pretty easy going I am... well except for the days of the full moon. Its 'ard not to be agresssive as a werewolf." He said it so casually he forgot that Amanda didn't know he was one.

((ooc: had 'em since I was 12, i think but they got worse when I turned 18. No meds, just have to suffer --same with my back))

I was thinking we can begin with some fun and use Wingardium Leviosa and make some objects hover!" From a box under the table Gaia pulled some objects. "We can start with this feather and continue down the line to the chair. We will only hover for a few seconds each item and see where we are with out skills."

On the table you see a gray feather, a small pebble, a used candle, a worn quaffle, bag of old keys, stack of books (3), a potted plant, and last the chair

Magnus went up to the table and levitated the feather a little higher than he intended to. He levitated the candle, quaffle, bag of keys and stack of books without much problem. He'd spent awhile his first year perfecting the spell to make sure he could manage more mischief.

The plant made him nervous though, because he didn't want to hurt it. "Wingardim Levisoa" He knew he'd said it wrong and the plant shoot up and then hurtle towards the ground. He jumped onto the table, trying to catch the plant, but fell to the floor--landing hard enough to make his knee and elbow bleed. At least the plant landed on his back and was unharmed. He hurt and was blushing deeply as he put the plant back on the table.

Gaia shook her head and smile "You know that is a fake plant right?" Gaia walked to the cupboard with some medical items and found an ointment for cuts. "Here, let me help. You can take a break if you like, but you are welcome to try again. Remember that it might look heavy but don't overestimate!"

His blushing intensified. He should have known Gaia would've put a fake plant there, she loved plants too. Looking at the floor he mumbled something that sounded like "no, Ididn'tfinkaboutthat" He let Gaia help sort his cuts out. "Cheers," he said still blushing. "Sorry I got er... jumpy?"

"I should have known to make a disclaimer. I needed the pot to be heavy with the soil but not the plant itself. The chair is lighter than you might think but it is still heavy so don't go too high." Gaia smiled "We might try some new charms given it is just the four of us!"

Nodding Magnus tried to shake off his embarrassment and waved his wand at the chair. It took him two tries before he managed to get it hovering correctly, but he did get it.
"Oh, new charms are good," he said smiling

"Hi, I'm Amanda." She said to the new girl. "I just started." She turned to Magnus, "Really? I read wolfsbane helps, is that true? Is it ok if I pelt you with questions? I'm new to the wizarding world and find everything fascinating." Turning to the task at hand, she waved her wand as instructed and said Wingardium Leviosa, the feather moved a bit, but that could have been from the breath she let out. Not one to give up, Amanda tried again and the feather left the desk for a few seconds. Feeling satisfied she got this, Amanda moved to the pebble and nothing happened. She made a face. "Rrriiiight. Overconfidence is a weakness... Oh well, practice makes perfect." She said to herself and went back to the feather. She felt a bit bad that everyone was better at this than her, but she was a new student and they were returning, which made sense for it. She paused in trying the feather when she heard Gaia mention new charms. "New? Yes! I've read up on other charm spells." ( )

((ooc: sorry for my absenteeism, adjusting to life back home. As for migraines, I only take Advil when the pain is debilitating otherwise I just put up with it. I recently found out (through research of my own and through a friend irl) that my migraines may be caused by Visual Snow (aka Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome) which is like always seeing everything through TV static (though my static seems colourful). Migraines are the way the brain copes with this overload of visual information. I have always seen this colourful static, the only times I haven't experienced it is when I'm asleep. (For an example of what it's like the minion: Tixel, only everywhere. I had to stare at the screen for awhile until I could see the minion rather than the normal visual oddness= .))

"See, Magnus? All is well! You can move on to Accio or you can help with with the other members of the club if you want to wait." Gaia smiled and turned to Amanda "Hello and welcome! Hogwarts is an amazing school if you have any questions I am here for you. Here," taking her own wand Gaia switch and flick her wand while saying Wingardium Leviosa and the feather floated in mid air lazily "it is all about your wand movement and saying the incantation properly. Once you have gotten the feather at least 4 feet in the air about 5 times you can try on the pebble."

"Most o' the time. Sometimes, it feels like it don't help like they said it should." He gave a small laugh, "Ask away." Magnus snickered and said, "alright then, accio acid pop," and one of Gaia's acid pops floated towards him. He caught it and chuckled handing it back to her since he had no intention of trying one of those.

Gaia gasped and glared at Magnus. She was relieved when he returned her pop. That was her after dinner study pop. "Very funny... Magnus." Gaia rolled her eyes "don't be a show off!" she couldn't help but laugh "You can call the items towards you that the others aren't using. make sure you keep in mind the weight of the item so you don't hurt yourself or someone else." Giving a quick nod of understanding she took her pop and put it in her bag.

His eyes twinkled with laughter. "Knew you 'ad to have one on you." He sat down and started summoning things to him. Pretty soon he had a large pile, so he went and put them back and started over again.
