This is the OOC thread for The Greatest Game RP/G series! If you're not familiar with it, feel free to read the original: The Greatest Game {Surv. RP/G} (Finale!)
First on the list,
A new RP is in the works for this series, but it's a completely different setting and I've tweaked it to give everyone 3 lives. If you think it sounds like a video game, it's because it is!
The new RP will be done in virtual reality while your physical characters' lives are at stake. There will be a series of bosses you and others will have to defeat, either by yourself or teaming up with other charries. More info will be posted later along with a continuing introduction in the actual rp thread ^_^
(Note: I'm currently looking to see how many people are interested in this rp c: Not taking full on signups yet. I'll be making an actual RP thread when we're ready!)
New RP sequel Intro
Another perfect day with perfect weather in your perfect little neighbourhood. The kids from next door are playing with the sprinkler and everybody seems to be enjoying the warm sunshine on this fine day. Even you are, except from the comfort of your computer. You even opened up the window so that you can enjoy a nice breeze. Everything should feel great, you think to yourself, clicking halfheartedly on the monsters you were grinding in game. However, things just seemed... too perfect? There was no conflict, no drama, no excitement. As flawless as the day was, it was also boring. But what could you do about it? It's not like you could transfer yourself into your game and fight these monsters yourself...
You take a big yawn as you walk out of your typical Monday evening class, still bored as ever of your perfectly normal life. For dinner tonight you figure you'll probably make yourself those "Luxury Instant Noodles" the local convenience store sells again. If those really were luxury noodles you'd hate to try the normal variety. Ah, and this was just Monday. You still had the whole week to get through. You hurry your pace before you make your mood go even more sour, until you stop in front of an intriguing bulletin board. You really hated advertisements or studies of any kind, but somehow this one caught your attention, and wasn't letting go.
New Campus Study Seeking Volunteers!
Like Video Games? Like fighting bosses? This study may be for you!
The Department of Psychology is conducting a study and analysis on the how the human mind reacts and manages within virtual reality over long periods of time, as well as how the physical mind and body experiences interactions with virtual characters within a game. Volunteers will be supervised and paid for their time!
Signups will be held at the end of the month in room 208 down the hall!
VR? Bah, nothing new. You didn't own your own VR console yet though. It'd be great to be face to face with a final boss! And, why not make a little extra cash doing so?

FAQ and Rules (No Character Profiles yet please!)
Not only is this a survival RP, but the "players" on in this game will have between 3-4 choices to choose from at the beginning of a battle in an a,b,c fashion. There will always be one negative outcome from the bunch. The other two can be positive or neutral. Think carefully about which action to choose.
(ex. a. Magic Attack b. Physical Attack c. Defense Position d. -)
These choices are kind of like guides to try and beat the boss. However, you can roleplay out the choices (just maybe with fancier writing skills) to fit the situation! Feel free to interact with others! A boss is easier to defeat with a plan rather than a bunch of 1 on 1 attacks!
Rules for when rp is official:
- This RP does involve the possibility death. You have 3 lives, meaning you can take 3 hits before you die. Before you sign up, please know death is an option.
- Because death is possible, users can have more than one character, but I would like to limit it at 3. 2 characters would be ideal.
- Please keep characters within the human realm of abilities. Abilities would give some advantages over others, and I want this to be a fair "game" :B
- Please stick with the a,b,c, choices. You can write your post around it, but don't suddenly go Neo and break out of the matrix!
- Users will have about a week (RL time) to post with their a,b,c, choices. This is so the plot can keep going but users who don't play Subeta every day can still keep up without being spoiled on what happens next c: Those who are active can keep posting dialogue, think of a strategy, or split their posts daily between their characters if they have more than one.
- Minimum of 3 sentences per post
- Any literary level goes! Whether you're new or advanced, please feel free to join us!
- OOC comments must be made within (single) or ((double brackets))
- Character profile will come with the signups!
- And of course, no PPing or GMing, must be PG 13 and under, and all of Subeta's rules apply!
The Greatest Game Feedback and Discussion
I'd really like to get some feedback for the last thread ^_^ Did you guys like it or hate it? I know it's probably a disappointment that nobody made it, but I'm hoping my 3 lives system for this round will hopefully let some people make it out alive :P
Also, feel free to ask me anything about the rp, this one or the one coming up! I'm planning on letting you guys know more about the upcoming RP soon I just ran out of time today to make another long post ;u; This thread will also be open during the next rp so you guys can talk and whatnot to me and among yourselves~

Ahh, tempting. I like to RP - or just write - but finding people is outside my comfort zone. ;c I'll have to go see what happened with the original though, I guess.

It was definitely intriguing to read the last round. Still not my cup of tea, I'm one of those pansies that just doesn't understand the entertainment value behind watching/reading about torture/killing - like the Saw series... WTF?! ROFLMAO
The only constructive input I have is that while reading, I often felt like my instinctive choice was nothing like any of the given options. Do you think that 'going rogue' could be one of the a,b,c options sometimes? Maybe every once in a while give people that option and see how it goes? I mean, if the scenario is already laid out on the NPC side before looking at everyone's choices, it shouldn't be too hard to play out a couple random options once in a while. Or am I just being naive?? lol <3
Also, were prizes a part of the last round? If not, they're totally deserved and I'd love to help out with getting some together for you to hand out to those participants as well as the ones signing up for this round! ^_^

I actually don't like gore all that much, lol. However, I find death a very interesting concept and I prefer tragedy over happy-go-lucky stories. But! Thanks for your input! I'll definitely try playing around with having a "rogue" option since I've introduced a 4th option to the new series ^_^
Also, prizes sound great! (Especially because I made it a little too hard and everybody died oops.) I'll go ahead and send everybody a participant prize and a bonus one to since she was the longest survivor ;) Feel free to send your own if you care to ^_^ I'm sure everyone would be happy!
: you could ask people you know to help fund the game by donating items to be used as prizes ( good stuff too, like CS items, Custom Wears, rare books, etc. ). You could set up a Gallery shop to display prizes ( helps keep them out in the open for all to see ) and then have the winners choose a prize at the end of the game. This is kind of how Wayward Squirrel works. ( although I think it's a lot more complex scoring system ) But it could work for you. You also might draw more participants which would give a better chance of someone surviving to the end.
You might have some choices that lead to a positive end or a partial solution, but not necessarily the best ending, and these scenarios could take place during some of the later 'chapters' of your plot. The game play for that character ends at that point, but they survive and would not get top prize. There's all sorts of 'easter egg' type of little scenarios that you could build into your 3 or 4 choices, like picking up a magic coin that has some power ( another life, magic healing from a wound, reviving a dead character...) that would advance the player and give back something lost in a past chapter. Just some ideas. Your game format is actually very good and has unlimited potential for some very fun game play. Just my thoughts. ( I read through most of the game as it was going, Ichigo777 is on our team for Wayward Squirrel, besides you all being my oldest friends on Subeta )

And I'll keep those suggestions in mind! To me "survival" isn't survival if death isn't involved in one way or another; that's why I classify this as a survival rp/g. However! I might do a lighthearted version of this sometime in the future since I know some people aren't into risking their lives :P
If you guys are still up for prizes, I'm thinking about having a "Winners" pool and a "Participant" pool. Basically if you make it out alive you get to pick from the Winners pool, which has better prizes, or from the Participant pool if you're not so lucky c: Let me know what you guys think!

Yaaay Jai ^_^ I'm gonna keep this thread up for another week to get prizes and story settled, and also in case anybody else shows interest or has advice for the next rp c:

I also wanted to ping everyone here to discuss the timing of your choices o: Do you all think 1 week is plenty? Also, would you guys like a break in between bosses to talk and interact with each other or keep going boss after boss?
Yes I think 1 week is a sufficient amount of time. I do not prefer less but I don't mind more as well. I would like some time in-between bosses, perhaps little events? Since we will be missing Halloween maybe we could do a Christmas event with a boss starting in the middle of December? Something like a long/short quests that makes us venture into the woods or a cave to retrieve an item to save something from something.
Or something more simple than that is good too
