granted, this is a slippery slope that can lead into who made what (restockable wearable), but as it stands there isn't even a proper search engine in the forum anymore and thus absolutely no way to track down the creator of a wearable.
which especially sucks when it's a tribute item, or a limited release, and you find yourself at the mercy of other forum dwelling humans to figure out the creator.
This thread is really useful for that sort of thing.
I can see where it would be nice to not have to ask others for information, but then how much information does staff make public? Just the name of the person who submitted the item, or also the artist? Sometimes people ask for both.
Is it even possible to go back and add items retroactively? There are over 19,000 CWs and I'm not sure what the system looks like for keeping track of who submitted what, and since the "artist's name" box was just added to submissions fairly recently, if they DID list the artist, is there a quick way to do that for past items?
idk I think this just sounds like a big headache for the staff for something we don't really need
There's a really easy way to see who released a particular item (if that's what you're after). You right-click the CI, choose "View Image". When you do so, you get a URL like this one:
https://img.subeta.net/items/custom/623237_190884.gif
Copy the first string of numbers only, then go to: http://subeta.net/wishlists.php
After the php add /XXXXXX (the numbers you copied) and load the page. It will show you the WL of the person who released the CW (which has their name). Granted, it's not as easy as if staff found a way to include that info in like a hover or something, but it's a way to actually find out.
It's highly possible staff won't do this - especially as it could lead to releasers being harassed by other users regarding items they had no intention of sharing with the public.
You both raise some excellent points, insofar as the work needing to be done to reach that and the possibility of users harassing creators about limited runs in particular.
The suggestion comes from a pretty honest place though. The system to find CWs, whether we're talking about through creator (which I prefer), or even just through layer type. It's a complete pain to navigate the CW shop, and I can honestly say that I and likely others would be spending more USD if it weren't such an navigational nightmare.
saved what posted.
DAAANG THAT'S HELPFUL! YOU ARE A LIFE CHANGER.
Glad to help :)
since last year (I think?), users are required to add the name of the artist who drew the cw they are submitting. Which means there is an official log of who drew what since then.
I don't know if this would work or not (it wouldn't be retroactive but might work from this point onwards?), but the description could potentially also include the mention 'artist: Cathii' for example)!
The one concern I have is that most artists don't actually release items themselves. For example, a huge chunk of what I draw is made as commissions/designs for others. So even though my name would appear as being the artist of xyz item, I'd still have no idea of the status of the item and would have to redirect you to the releaser!
