I've noticed there are quite a few pets particularly in the beginning numbers (under 100k) that do not exist, whether frozen because of inappropriate names waiting to be cleared and renamed (much like the recent pound fill up), are just gone right now. (That's a super awkwardly worded sentence, maybe I'll try to fix it.)

Anyway, what I'm proposing is...maybe if Subeta shut off for an hour (or however long it might take) to...move up the pets to just fill in those empty ID numbers. NOTE: NOT TOUCHING the birthdates. Those would make sense to remain. And I dont mean all those pets in the 5 million series of ID filling in the gaps, I mean like..a shift to the left. Say there's a 10-15 ID number gap, that 16th pet would move up.. I think that makes sense?

I know people are crazy about low IDs, and this wouldn't really leave people an option about whether or not their IDs would change, because this certainly would affect every single pet on the site except for number one, who is on Keith's account. Last I checked number 2 was nonexistent. I was just curious on peoples thoughts, would they support that? Or are people THAT obsessed with the number itself that they wouldn't want their pets all going down in IDs.

Some people have specific IDs, though, like 666 666 or 1 111 111 and things like that.

It would be cool for ID hunters to have more low IDs in circulation...but a lot of special IDs would be wrecked

uhh yeah no im not really sure how this would work at all, i mean there are people who have spent years trying to get their hands on a pet with the perfect ID number and if suddenly every pet had their ID number changed..... yeah that would...... be bad. also it would just be a logistical nightmare.

I've been thinking for a while newly created pets should just assume IDs that no longer have pets to attach to them. That would be pretty simple to fill in. It just would mess up the whole 'older the pet/birthdate the lower the ID' thing.

Then again, this would also diminish the 'value' or whatever, for low IDs. I'm personally not super crazy about the low ID, other than that it looks neater than a kajillion numbers.

the whole reason i like low id's is because it means it's an older pet. i guess i wouldn't care if it happened but i also kinda don't get what the point of it would be since the age stays the same.

I can't support this. While I myself don't particularly care about IDs there are a lot of people out there who do value this and a change like this would devalue that for them.

There is also a pretty good chance it would stuff up the current ID system.

I can't support this. I'm not an ID hunter, but a lot of low IDs are acquired not just for the date, but the fact that they match with a particular date.

Also, I can't see how this wouldn't mess up the current ID number system and anything attached to that ID system ( profiles for instance) if all the ID numbers were suddenly changed.

It would affect every single pet which could also potentially affect people's coding as it is easier to link a pet by ID rather than name in case of changes. Also mentioned above is that some people went after a very specific ID. So you would be messing them up as well.

I know a few who like specific IDs, but most people who like low IDs actually just want a pet with an old birthdate, because it's neat to have a pet that's been around for a long time or the date is important to them. This seems like a really unnecessary change with a high risk of screwing a lot of things up if it didn't go smoothly. If the range for a 10 year old pet went from less than 200k to less than 5k, the attitudes wouldn't really change- only the numbers would.

I have heard some people say that they like IDs under 1mil now just because the current IDs seem ridiculous/too high, and I understand that mentality, but personally I'd rather see staff fix the glitch that takes an ID even when a pet isn't being created. It'd be cool if the numbers didn't jump by 500k every time an account with a lot of nice names clears.

I would like that personally, but ID is like the only thing people really have to hunt down on here and I wouldn't want anyone to lose their 1234567 ID they've searched for years.

I don't know why there are gaps, but the ID has as much meaning as the birthdate. It was created f.e. on the 3th of June as the 3817481th pet. It makes sense to remain the ID as well.

i could get behind reusing pet IDs but not arbitrarily changing members' pet IDs. If that make sense. But they would have current birthdays just because you have a low ID does not make it an old pet. You would have to see the pet profile for the date it was created.

While I like the idea of being able to re-release lower IDs in some way, I do not agree with every pet's ID being shoved to the left. Most of my IDs aren't really anything special, but I would hate to lose 1,000,001 just so they could all be rearranged!
