This has probably been suggested before but I think it would be cool to have something daily or weekly similar to the pet spotlight but for HA's

It's harder to judge, since a lot of the userbase changes HA multiple times a week

There's already a human avatar spotlight. Granted it's only on the home page when not logged in, but it's there.

Oh gosh, the spotlight in the log in page. It's so broken I don't even know if it's managed. Most of the time, it's either naked HAs or frozen/inactive users.

In regards to this topic, there's contests and HA games run by users in the forums. A site-wide contest for a special event could be interesting.... just not every day spotlights.

...Thinking about it, there was the Peka Boo Battle of the Bands. So, a site wide HA contest has been done before. Adjustments just need to be made if another site wide contest were to be done.

that "spotlight" is randomly chosen and the image has been broken for like over a year.

as for the idea, i like HA-related content but i don't know that it could work on the same scale as the pet spotlight, considering many people change their avatars multiple times per week or even per day. in the past when there have been site-wide HA contests (the male HA contest, the experiment HA contest, the business executive HA contest) there's been a lot of drama because people tend to disagree with staff's choices for the winners. so idk that a spotlight could really work, and contests tend to be messy unfortunately. that said, it would be cool if something could be figured out. i'm just not sure what it would be aside from what we've already done in the past.

With the other contests, was it only the staff that determined winners? What if users were the ones that determined the winner via multiple choice voting?

ah i just remembered we had cosplay contests for epicon years back and those were decided by user vote. maybe more events like that? perhaps on a smaller scale.

Hmm... I wonder if having entries remain anonymous would benefit somehow. Like, it could be the best prevention from it becoming a popularity contest.

yeah that's probably a good idea. for the most part i don't think the userbase is THAT obnoxious but there are definitely enough people who... are.

There is a rotating HA spotlight on the main page if you're not logged in. If that could be made relatively more available...

If there was a similar concept on the site once you log in, perhaps it could work. Maybe there could be a link on the side of the news that shows a random avatar when you click on it. If the point of it being on the log in page is to attract potential new users, then it needs to be fixed whenever the wardrobe is more stable. I'm assuming it's broken because of the changes to the wardrobe and the share feature.

I still do like the idea of a site-wide contest though.

I can already feel the drama and the whole elitism speech that some users may have brought with them while choosing. We've seen it before. So it's a nope for me.

No thanks. I do like having HA contests as part of site events, but I wouldn't want to see any form of judged spotlight onsite on a regular basis.

It'd be nice if the front page spotlight could be fixed though, and made available somewhere onsite
