I just received the Blackmoons War Plate for the MC achievement. It says it is a tier 10. Can anyone tell me what it does and if it is worth it to keep it? My battle pet stats: Level: 1887 Health: 2499 / 2499 Strength: 2485 Defense: 2381 Speed: 1909 Intelligence: 2219
Tier: 11 Rank: 482
the stats are located here
I don't particularly find it too useful, though it is an interesting shield. it may have some use, but shields aren't too helpful for most fights. selling it may be more beneficial. it's really up to you, it could be a tough item to sell, or you actually may get some use out of it if you try it out and like it.
[edit] there's a thread about it here that I agree with 100%
I have found that the BWP can save your butt in a way that MCAB cannot, in that when you have Divine Denizhen, the proc from Paintbrush Blades, the proc from Blessing of Natural Armor and this shield you can block a whole shit-ton of icons. This means if your opponent is not one of the ones that heals itself zillions of hits past the point that you can do with one weapon plus baguettes installed that you can last a good while. This strategy also helps in those cases where you are outspeeded, it prevents you from being gratuitously critted. In those few cases where you outspeed your opponent but can't quite punch through their defence, the curse procked by this weapon will get you a kill that you couldn't ordinarily do. The curse hits harder and lasts longer than the MCABs, so you can spend a turn nursing your wounds before using it again, while the MCAB you have to keep always up and worry about those challengers that block a little of everything.
Some challengers boost their str/def whatever each turn so you can't outlast those, or it's a gamble to do so, and some just hit so hard that it doesn't matter. But for the rest, I can say the turtle strategy works just fine.
I personally do not see many instances when this shield would be useful. Many extremely hard and impossible challengers do a lot of damage spread across 2-3 icons so having a weapon that just blocks a little bit of everything isn't particularly useful. The other negative thing about it is aside from the curse, the plate is only a defensive item. You will do a lot less damage per turn if you're waiting for the curse to activate, giving your opponent the chance to heal and make the battle take a lot longer than it needs to.
Thank you :) I am going to keep training my pet and if I still have it when a big challenger comes around I will see if it works for me. Trying to sell it right now, but I doubt it is going to any time soon.
Have you tried it against pylot decayed or did you get all your wins on him already? He tends to do a lot of wind, dark and earth, but he also has the chance to do a lot of ice, magma and light. It may be worth seeing on him. I think the plate is one of those awkward weapons where it would be great for a lower tier pet but doesn't quite fit at higher tiers.
I forgot about them. I will try it out. Thanks again :D
you are welcome. There's a bias against turtling here in Battle. I come at battling from the point of view of someone who is primarily a merchant who happens to spend my lucre on pet training and battlestuff instead fashion, so my opinions seldom match that of the usual crowd here. The majority of battlers here would boost their health high and attack/attack/attack and since I was just building my pets up I didn't bother with that and trained them evenly.
I agree with that the BWS is marked as higher tier than it really should be and would be more useful lower, but then IMO fuck tiers because in a non-random system tiers only exist to keep smaller pets and newer players down, so of course I'd say that.
I had the BWS for a good while before tiers were even implemented, since restocking from the Millionaire Center used to be a useful and profitable thing to do in addition to the Achievements. Pretty much all of the really nice shields for lower tiers got tiered so you couldn't use them when you really needed, and they got nerfed. So the BAs share the general offense-first idea that many battlers have and deliberately made it harder to choose alternate strategies.
I try to keep all of his stats even. I really don't know that much about battling. I just try to muddle through and do the best I can.
You'll see many battlers favoring high health, including myself, because it will help you last longer in fights against tougher opponents that hit hard. You have more health to go through before you hit 0 and you will heal for more from weapons that have %heal based on your total health points. For example, let's say your health is at 700 and you have a weapon that is 10% heal. At 700 health, you can heal 70 hp. If you were at 1k health, you would heal for 100 hp. This starts to add up when you use multiple weapons and scrolls with a small amount of healing. If there was a phantom stat cap you could technically keep building evenly without consequence, you may just have to wait longer to beat harder opponents. But because there is a stat cap, your attack and defense can only get you so far. The turtle approach as would put it can be useful in some situations. However, if you have opponents that will curse you and do things like only let you use one weapon, you will still take damage because you cannot block curse icons and shielding becomes useless if you can only use one weapon. You run the risk of having your weapon stolen or you frozen and left an open target. For situations like that it's good to have a high attack to end the battle quickly and high health to last longer because your defenses can be broken.
Lately I have been using the training center for health and then using battle exp to buy strength and defense. Scrolls are what really confuse me. I just use Cobalt Eternal, Winter Spirit, Homing Meteor or Heavens Cannon. Mostly I just use the Heavens Cannon. Is there a scrolls guide for dummies?
I mean, there's a list of all scrolls, what they do and how much AP they cost but which ones you buy are dependent on your needs. Cobalt eternal and sancturia exodin are great for blocking icons your weapons can't block, but since they are opb you'll probably want a few of them. Freezing scrolls are always nice if your opponent doesn't have freezing disabled. The best out there I'd say are shriek of despair and psycho smasher, followed by gelaspell. Healing scrolls like gift of the forj, lucky, morosbane and terra focujin are always good to have if you need more healers. Every set though should have an infinite use scroll that you use primarily in battle. This should be something that definitely Offers defense and some % heal and preferably attacks as well. My favorite affordable infinite scroll is aftershocks because it does all three things.
There are plenty of other scrolls out there. I would check that list
