We currently have four genders on Subeta (not counting the iconless zentu one): Male, Female, Genderless, Gear

I understand the Gear one being special and somewhat restricted as it seems very connected to a pet's identity as a steamworks pet.

But, I suggest that Subeta make the other three equal. We already have a topic discussing the option to select any of the three at pet creation, which I support (if you can get male/female for free, why not genderless too?). On this board, I want to suggest that Subeta make gender changes cost the same, regardless of which gender you want the pet to change to. Right now, a sex berry is 3.6m in shop search, and a genderless berry is 10m in the millionaire shop. That is an extra 6.4m cost for those who don't want to follow the gender binary.

I suggest that Subeta either make these items cost the same (for instance, restock both in the millionaire shop, as the only place you can get them from) or replace them with a new item, called "transformation berry" perhaps, that lets you choose which gender you want to change to when you use it (giving all three as options).

I don't see the need for this? Genderless berries were super overpriced for a while because they were blackheart hollow exclusive, and then the team made them more available and now affordable. Do your quests and sell the items in your shop and you'll make 10mil in less than a month.

I thought this thread was gonna be about something else entirely.

Anyway the genderless berry has always been more expensive, but not that difficult to get. It doesn't have anything to do with the gender binary or equality, it's just because of where it used to restock and how it was meant to be a much rarer item as opposed to the sex berry.

Also I paid like 30mil+ for a genderless berry years ago so 10mil for one now is amazing.

Uh, what.

I thought the genderless berries were relatively easy to get, even considering rarer to get?

I don't think 10m is too much and I don't see the problem with the prices of other berries. The odds are also different.

And if I remember correctly you can get the gender berry from Ikumoradeekanox, hence why it's cheaper than the genderless.

You can't just suddenly turn a restockable item into an artifact or the other way around - that'd be super weird and unfair.

Though I don't disagree with the main message of the OP, it's something that the site chose not to do. Your suggestion would be equal to creating a new potion that could turn your pet into dusk/dawn/field/aqua/cherry/reborn/spectrum/....

The sex berry used to be a lot cheaper and the genderless berry used to be much more expensive. You can't really compare those two though because one changes your pets gender from one easily accessable to another one, while the other gives your pet a 'new' unaccessible gender. It's justified that the sex berry is cheaper, even if both had the same rarity.

Creating a new item just to avoid cost seems kinda weird. Character building will cost a lot, and those berries are more in the middle when it comes to cost.

on the one hand i agree that i don't see any REAL reason for genderless pets to be any less accessible / more out-of-the-way than male or female pets, but on the other hand it'd probably be a hassle wrt the prices and availability of both berries. it's true that 10 mil isn't that much, you can earn it in a few days of questing, and if you don't feel like buying the berry you can always wait for masquerade to make an endeavor or cadogre for, what, 50k?

that said, i don't disagree with the principle of genderless pets being just as accessible as male or female; i know some pet sites actually give several gender options (usually male, female, none, and sometimes other) right off the bat because, why shouldn't they be? but. idk. on the one hand, why should a genderless pet be any harder to obtain; on the other hand, it's not really that hard to do anyway.

10mil isn't even that much, though. You can probably make that within 3-5 days of questing, I think.

As someone nonbinary myself I don't... really see the need for this. Personally I prefer that it's a little rarer because it's something I want to be thought through but that also has nothing to do with the item. 10 mil isn't that hard. If it were 50 mil or even 30 mil like it used to be I'd agree but honestly there's no reason to try and make this about equality or exclusion because that's certainly not what staff was trying to do or would be trying to do if they kept it the same. They're super supportive of the nonbinary community as is and will likely continue to be whether or not they do this. I'm honestly grateful that genderless and a cultural gender option is included at all, even though I shouldn't have to be. Idk I've never been that upset about the fact that this gender option is special and never thought about the fact that it could be added to the regular option.

With genderless berry having been moved to the millionaire center, it feels that it wouldn&;t be out of place for the sex berry to be moved as well. As far as I could find, sex berry is currently only restocking via Token Shop and has a very limited supply in user shops almost regularly it seems.

This item doesn&;t seem one that should necessarily be """difficult""" to obtain, or in such a limited stock, and it&;d make sense if it was with its counterpart in the Millionaire Center.
The general price seemed to be lingering around 800k, so maybe a set price of 1mil in MC would be fine?
Also, it&;d be an sP sink. I know y&;all love those.

I support the idea of making genderless berry on a even footing cost wise as the gender berry. I like that we have an option for pets to to be non-binary as more people are becoming aware of and identifying as non-binary than ever before. I don't see why it should be more expensive than a binary gender option. It would be like saying it will cost you more to make a male pet.

The idea of having both berries in the mc is one option (though I would like to see an equal price of say 5m as a sort of half way price tag). Alternatively make the genderless berry rs like the gender one does.

The reason I haven't added the gender berry to the Millionaire Center is because it restocks in the Food Market. You could potentially restock it for like 50k. I've put it in the Token Shop a few times when it gets to be too high, but in general it's cheaper than the genderless berry because it actually restocks in normal shops (and isn't that high of a rarity). The genderless berry never restocked in the same way, it was a BHH exclusive item.

I don&;t see why it should be more expensive than a binary gender option. It would be like saying it will cost you more to make a male pet.

Full agreement with this. I don't mind it being somewhere expensive because it's always been a rare item, and it'll be jarring to the market, but it is pretty annoying all the same. 10mil isn't hard to make, but at the same time, I don't really see why I should have to dump my pocket change out just because two of my most recent pets are both nonbinary. :p I don't want to think about how much the genderless berries were for my two older nonbinary pets, either!

idk, it would be really nice if it was a more accessible option for the sake of character creation. I don't see a nonbinary gender as something weird or whimsical, something that you have to go out of the way to pursue-- it's just another gender. It feels weird to have it be a special option when it's becoming more and more common, just make it a third option at pet creation and have the Sex Berry be moved up to be on par with it.

Alternatively, you could always retire the Sex Berry and Genderless Berry and merge them into a single new item, that might ease the question of price..

Retiring Gourmand items is a terrible idea.
