Tell me what you think! The government, society, our cars, roads, buildings, the way we make things. Just life. its for a story :)
(dont say aliens)
renewable energy!!.. or else we're probs all dead or have been decimated as a species at the very least. we've fought wars over water.. i'm thinking Dune and those suits that recycle pee..
in terms of social fabric? i have no clue, even as a sociologist.. 1000 years is a long time, history isn't exactly linear, and i have no imagination. though i suspect we've moved on from capitalism + consumerism out of necessity for our species' survival. perhaps to new, unforeseeably destructive forms of agriculture and resource extraction. no more big macs.
idk enough about environmental science but i see it being a big theme of my future dystopia :p [-Disease]
The polar Icecaps melt inundating all coastal and low lying inland countries. Mountainous areas become island nations that everyone is fighting over. Because of the influx of fresh water the ocean currents change and plunge the world into a new ice age, just as the few nations that managed to survive the floods and the wars, begin to reestablish civilization.
Buh-bye to everything north of the tropic of Cancer, and south of the tropic of Capricorn.... Hello to all new wars and devastation of what little arable land is left, until someone gets the bright idea of using the heat of the earth's core to power underground cities with hydroponic farms.... A few thing will probably go wrong with that idea as well, as humans don't generally get along well when forced together in large numbers.
i remember reading something in a history book about an early civilization that used to rule most of the continent, i don't remember what it was exactly anymore. it was less than a whole paragraph of text about a civilization that ruled for centuries over huge swaths of land, reduced to a side note in some textbook. it left me floored to consider the magnitude of it.
1000 years is a really, really long time. i do think most of our culture will have changed beyond recognition, and i wonder what will be written about us in their future texts. while our current digital data storage isn't as resilient as we think it is, i hope some of our digital data manages to last that long, so future archaeologists will have to sift through memes to try to parse through what our culture was like.
future archaeologists will write serious dissertations about dat boi.
i really think about how much of our data they would manage to adquire. even imagining the hardware doesn't totally disintegrate in that time, which totally could happen and the data would be lost to damage, how would they even interface with our hardware? floppy disks were used just 50 years ago and they're already totally outdated. my computer doesn't even have a cd drive. maybe archaeologists would collect these mysterious boxes of ancient tech, but until they managed to construct something to manage to read a 2010-era pendrive, it'd be just a mysterious black box taunting scholars with its secret bounty of someone's archived fanfictions and schoolwork that they can't reach.
[-Disease] Every one has got their own imagination about it. So I have got my own too ;)
I'm not sure how the climate would be, but I believe it's colder than now. I suppose this by information about a possible new ice age by this: Klick. The page is from Robert Felix.
If Scandinavia could deal with this, it could be rule the world over 1000 years. Why not Russia? Scandinavia has got more democracy. I believe world parts wits a real democracy are over a longer period stronger and more stable than world parts without democracy. So they have got more rest and time to spend more attention about a possible new ice age.
Well as I said, this is just my imagination about the world over 1000 years.
