Subeta uses the month/day/year date format for timestamps on forum posts, comments, news posts and so on. But the most prevalent date standard in the world is day/month/year. Some countries like Canada, the Philippines or Saudi Arabia use both formats.
This can make things a little confusing and frustrating for international users.
For example, figuring out if an account is going to clear on the 8th of July, or the 7th of August. Or figuring out if the last post on a topic was on the 1st of April, or if it was on January 4th.
What I'm proposing is simple: change this: 6/5/2016 into this: Jun/5/2016 or into this, if possible: June 5[sup]th[/sup], 2016 (ty )
It's much easier to tell the month and day apart at a glance making it more clear and user-friendly, and the date format is still the same.
I do agree this would make things a lot clearer. I too am confused a lot with the dates due to their format!
I've basically gave up on trying to read forum posts timestamps because of that, so yeah, support.
I'm from the part of the world that uses d/m/y, Celsius and meters and I'm slowly getting used to American metrication due to having a friend in California, but the date thingy is really confusing.
I'm neutral if this gets implemented, but if it is then I think June 5[sup]th[/sup], 2016 is prettier.
I've long gotten used to month/day/year format. So much that I find myself saying dates in that order IRL too. ^^; But I can see how this would confuse a lot of people. A clearer format for people who aren't used to the month/day order sounds great! ^-^
Pretty much my reaction. I don't care either way if we change, but if we do I hope we go all the way so the dates don't look awkward.
That it is, but I don't know how hard it would be to make the timestamps fancy without breaking something in the background (yay for old code). So I didn't want to go full nitpick as far as aesthetics go.
If it's possible to make it fancy, I'd be all for it. If it's too much hassle, just writing out the first three letters of the month works fine too.
support. i'm from the states but i just suck at reading these and am dyslexic so half the time i read them wrong anyway oops

I never know which date format is in use. I generally try to find a date with a number higher than 12 and work it out from there. Making this change would make things more user-friendly.

Oh my god, please. I'm always getting confused about dates for this exact reason (though I think my vote would be for "06/JUN/2016" rather than the full phrase).
I actually vote for something closer to ISO standard (YYYY/MM/DD, from largest increment of time moving to smaller ones). 2016/6/06, or 2016 June 6th if we were writing it out. No regional misunderstandings that way.

mm maybe it's just me but i don't actually see the date written like this much at all and it would confuse the heck outta me if this happened

I would LOVE for the date format to be changed to include the name of the month. American dates are confusing. :c
I don't see the point of changing the date format altogether. Doing that would just confuse people even more.
The current format works fine, it just needs one or two small tweaks for clarity, that's all.
I see it formatted ISO for work, which is probably why it seems more common to me. shrugs
Adding words may not necessarily easy to do with the system for timestamps, either, and some time/date software at least has ISO as an option. Hence the thought.

Yes! This would be super helpful, it always takes me a while to work out what the date is.

Yes, please! The current format is not very intuitive for non-Americans.

I've got used to the US form of dates now, but I do agree that
(I prefer June 5th, 2016 over Jun/5/16 as I think it looks neater)
[edit] If the forums could match the "June 27, 2016" dates given on the news post headers (I know the numerical date / timestamp is listed at the bottom), that'd be perfect :D
