A painter who was a former drill sergeant and you'd never guess it. He painted beautiful landscapes and had the most soothing, gentle voice you've ever heard in your life. He also rehabilitated wild animals and would sometimes bring them on the show. xD He was an inspiration. He also used to live in Alaska, so that might contribute to my love of him.

Yes! Just listening to his voice is like getting a massage, and all his little painting tips apply to life, too. I like the one about how you have to have darkness to show light, and he follows it up by saying you have to have sad times to appreciate the good.

He spoke the truth, that's why I enjoyed the show. He also got me into painting?? Like he doesn't give you any technique, he makes you learn to trust yourself when you paint .. somehow. It's all metaphor.

I loved it when I'd see him do something and I'd think, "OMG, he's ruined it, there's no way he can recover from that," and then moments later, BAM! Masterpiece. Happy accidents!
