Someone in my family, I just recently found out, is a heroin addict. Someone very very very very VERY close. and I need help. I'm not handling the situation very well and I don't know where to turn. I looked up some support groups but nothing seems to be sticking to me so I can blurt my feelings. I see my therapist on the 16th of June to talk about it. But that's a ways off.

If someone that you know, or you yourself have been through this, please message me? Or email or skype?

Please lock this if this is against any rules. It's been a while since I've been active on here.

If no one on here messages you, I would recommend looking up online forums that offer support to the families of people struggling with drug addictions. I'm sure they are out there! There may also be community gatherings in your area. Until you get in to see your therapist, I would suggest maybe keeping a journal or sketchbook where you can just blurt out all of your feelings and totally dump all of your emotions and thoughts. This might help ease some of the feelings of helplessness and 'craziness' by getting it all down on your private papers where it can be ordered and organized a bit.

I'm terribly sorry you are dealing with this. I can only imagine how hard it is. I do think it's a positive thing that you are focusing on yourself and how you are reacting to/coping with the news. In certain situations, we can't change things, but we CAN change how we respond to them.
