A: Because pizza delivery companies don't forget they put your pizza in the oven and then burn it to a crisp!

< Is basically my pizza now.

Care to share any dinner mishaps and make me feel less silly?

I get distracted while cooking and burn food at least once a week. It's a real problem, lol! But nothing quite as bad as what happened to you, yikes!

I can't find the picture of it, but a summer or two ago I made cupcakes and the strawberry frosting was made with real strawberries. It tasted sooooooo good, so I frosted them and took them to work with me. When I got there, the frosting had softened and melted and globbed EVERYWHERE. It legit looked like melted brains. It wasn't pleasant looking but it still tasted wonderful!

They sound delicious! I love strawberries. ?

Speaking of baking, I once made a chocolate-chip-marshmallow-everything-in-the-cupboard cake that looked like a cowpat (from a very sick cow) but tasted lovely.

My step-dad's birthday cake wasn't going to win any beauty prizes, either. I decorated with the symbol of his favourite football team (Ipswich) which would be great if it didn't involve navy blue icing. Blue teeth and tongues all 'round!

I tried taking something out of the oven with a napkin a few years ago. The napkin fell to the bottom of the oven and caught fire. At least I was able to put out the fire before anything was damaged (minus the napkin and my pride).

Strawberries have never been my favorite, but strawberry icing with real, fresh strawberries is to die for! The extra ingredient definitely makes the frosting more runny and the juice makes it almost greasy. Leave that stuff in the fridge until the minute you need to serve it!

LOL That sounds delicious, but I guess chocolate + marshmallows could very easily become a dangerous option if smushed together for too long. I made healthy protein balls once with protein powder, crushed nuts, and applesauce and that mess looked EXACTLY like goose poop. Luckily after a workout I was too hungry to think about it too much, haha

Whoops. :o

Reminds me of my first 3am fire alarm at uni. Someone left the hob on and turned the oven off at the switch; then someone else came along, put some papers on the hob*, and then turned the oven on, not knowing the hob was on. Cue papers on fire.

*They were drunk.

Aw, sorry to hear about your pizza! The worst is when you're really hungry and something goes awry and you're like, 'I should have just ordered something to start with...'

I was once trying to make rice krispie squares for my family, and I accidentally burned the marshmallows. The house did not smell so great for a little bit there, but my pride was far more damaged than anything as I'm usually pretty capable in the kitchen when I want to be, haha!

During a school trip me and my roommates set our pizza literally on fire. On my own I'm more likely to undercook my food.

omg i didn't think that fire alarms in res could be due to actual fires and not just some fuckers pulling the alarm for shits and gigs.

anyway one time my friend and i made nachos in her oven using the broil setting and they caught fire. we literally watched these things burn for ten seconds in shock before we realized we needed to do something.

I have some kitchen stories.

I had a fire in my oven once. The flames were almost hitting the top of the oven and I thought I was going to have to call the fire department. They petered out after 10-15 seconds, thank god. Oh and the pie that I had in there at the time was still good.

Another time (this is when I first moved in my apartment), I was cooking and I burnt my rice. My mom asked me "How can you burn rice?" IDK. I just did lol.

This happened recently, back in February, actually. I had two glass pie plates stacked on top of each other on my stove top sitting on an element. I was going to make stuffed peppers (had everything all cut up) when I turned on the wrong element (I didn't know at the time). After awhile, something smelled like it was burning and I went into the kitchen only to see that I turned on the wrong element. I took the pie plate off with an oven mitt and then the pie plate exploded. I burnt my floor and carpet. I called my landlord about this in March because I couldn't get a hold of him and he said he'd come and take a look at the floor. He still hasn't done it... lazy b-tard.

I can cook and I can bake, I'm fairly good at both though lazy, so I don't usually. This being said, I was having a doozy of a time a couple months back when I went to make this croissant bread, broccoli, ham and cheese entree. ..I ah, cough managed to leave a knife on the baking sheet. Melted it! (okay, the handle, but still)...and I have NEVER EVER done that before. ....I then turned around and did it again the next day!!! (to be fair, that day I was right royally pissed off and probably wouldn't have noticed a rhino trotting across the kitchen unless it stepped on my toes and then i would have most likely torn it limb from limb. XD) So..in summary, we all have our days. =0D ..and end up buying new knives....

(I also think it has to do with all the ingredients being fresh, opposed to the deep-frozen stuff on store-bought pizza?)

For some reason, I just can't seem to decently heat store-bought lasagna. I love lasagna. I don't love partially-burnt, partially-frozen lasagna.

At one point, I was making a simple onion soup. I love onions and I found a recipe that only needs about five ingredients. I used to make it all the time because I loved it so much. One day, I was pulling the bowl from the microwave, but it was hotter than usual, despite the tea towel I was using. The bowl burnt my finger, slipped, and proceeded to pour its scalding hot contents all over me. There was butter and onion all over the kitchen and I'd burn most of my arms and chest. It was pretty dang awful. I haven't used the recipe ever since.

Kinda the opposite of most of these stories- I have low blood sugar and can get a bit stupid when I'm hungry. One day I was making myself some eggs for breakfast. I stood in front of the pan waiting for them to cook or a goof half hour before I realized I hadn't turned the burner on!

I actually prefer storebought frozen Pizza and heating it in my oven to a crisp. I somehow loooove burnt food. But yesterday, I decided to make a grilled sandwich and it went way to crsipy. I think the roof of my mouth ist still bleeding...
