I was a member of another website where many of the users 'quested' (they'd make a thread saying an item or an amount of currency they wanted and other users could donate to them). It didn't seem to hurt the economy that I could see and it was a nice way to meet friends. Yes, sometimes it was outright begging, but no one seemed to mind. I really wish we could do the same here. In addition to questing, there were also charities, where users would help those who were questing. It was just really nice and I'd love to have something similar here. I kind of remember staff saying no to this before...I guess I'd just like to hear the reasoning behind that. Or if it is actually a possibility, I'd like to know so that I can start a petition to get it started!

The economy or making friends doesn't cross my mind when it comes to begging, but it would spam up the forums and be annoying. I would think the reasoning behind the No Begging rule is about curtailing harassment (especially since CSC is primarily purchased with real money) and establishing boundaries.
