Subeta is having a depressing shortage of aquatic pets. Chelon, Torrent, and Tutani all exist and they are lovely, but there is a tragically overlooked demographic of Odd Sea Creatures with massive amounts of untapped pet potential.
The possibility of including things such as sea horses, pipefish, and various extinct creatures have been discussed on other threads, but what I'm here to talk about today is
SEA SLUGS
I mean just look at these guys!
What are they even doing
I swear to god, this one's just Kyogre in real life
I sense some nuclear slugs in our midst
Dawn and dusk, ready for action!
Maybe these could be glade!
I'm not even sure what this guy's deal is, but it's just so pretty!
That would be all.
I support this, as well as any other weird aquatic pet c: Subeta is lacking in "weird" pets.
I'd love to see one of these, but I feel it's more suited to being an experiment. I think it would be a little difficult to make so many different poses for a pet that doesn't have limbs and is pretty much a decorated sea twinkie . Don't get me wrong I LOVE sea slugs, but I just personally don't see a lot of potential for being it's own species?
That being said, I am all for more oceanic pet species!
All for this, as an experiment or species. I love the sea bunnies myself! So adorable! LINK BECAUSE BIG AND CUTE
That's a fair concern. 17 unique poses is kind of a lot for a colorful sea sausage. But the one I'm most concerned about in Nostalgic. How would that even work? the only thing I can think of is a tube of play-doh, and Kora's already using that theme. I've also been wondering about Galactic and Nightmare versions of this, and I haven't been able to stop laughing since.
Sea Bunnies are the BEST THINGS. It might be kind of neat to have a fluffy pink one as the sweetheart version or something...
I support this. Gastropods and cephalopods are my favorite kind of sea creatures. Let get some representation for invertebrates, maybe at least as experiments :D
Nudibranchs with shells tho.
I still really want this to happen. As an actual pet, too. Not just an experiment. There's too much potential to waste it on a single experiment. :(

It would work well as an experiment pet. :)
Ty for linking to my board.
AS LONG AS IT HAS A SHELL I AM ON FUCKING BOARD BROS
Nudibranchs are neato, and there's no reason we couldn't do a hybrid shelled one, they don't have to match RL snails or nudibranchs. The Xotl is a fusion snaky-frog-lizard thing
The Zaszaba shows that we can do colorfill on an intricate design. Only one of these samples needs to be picked for the basic shaped pet, and the special pose colors could be all the others.
I love the idea of mixing these with snails for a new pet. There are already a number of pets which mix features from two or more real animals, and this would work great.
They'd be amazing for Spectrum and Blacklight! :D
I like the idea of a snail pet, but I worry that snail shell + all the wavy, dangly bits that nudibranches would make the design too crowded. If it can be done without looking too busy, though, a sea slug/snail hybrid would be really cool
Not all nudibranches are super dangly bits, so it would've be hard to just not have a bunch of dangly bits and not make the shells super complicated. (Though for some of the colors, I would want them to change shape. Pointy or spikey for bloodred, for example.)
this is true, but most of the 'branches I've seen that aren't 'tentacles coming out of your tentacles' are basically just 'weird colorful sea sausage.' Try to impose a snail shell on the former and you have a confusing unholy mess, and try to impose a snail shell on the later and what you pretty much have 'Okay it's a snail??? but kinda flat??? and weird eyestalks???'
A middle ground would be needed, but it doesn't seem to exist, at least not among real-life nudibranches, except maybe these guys.
They are our sea slug ambassadors. They are here to save us.
It wouldn't be difficult. If they can make Glade/Harvest and Hydrus pets work, they can totally make a tentacle-y slug with a shell work. And again, it doesn't need to be 'tentacles coming out of your tentacles' to be a nudibranch. Plenty of your initial pictures only have tentacles on the heads, and on the butt.
Maybe it could have a mantle covering their shell like cowries?
[tot=Varis]
My point was, though, with those kinds of slugs the rear tentacles would be underneath or blocked by the shell and the front ones wouldn't look very different from a snails eyestalks, so it really would read more as 'weird-lookin' snail-thing' than 'snail-nudibranch hybrid'
I like this! I never would have thought to put the wavy nudibranch bits on the shell. reminds me of some pics I saw of hermit crabs with anemones on their shells.
