EDIT: Premise has changed. I believe galleries should only allow for one of each item to be shown off. If you want to organize multiple of an item, use vaults.

...no. Collecting certain types of items is a lot of what keeps many people here. I have a kitty gallery and a rat gallery and I love them. I don't care if other people look at them. Also, this should probably be in suggestions instead of feedback.

This is feedback, though. If they're going to go update shops and galleries to relieve strain on the backend, they should go a step further and get rid of galleries. IT's great that you have a collection, but it makes no sense to have a place on the site dedicated to showing off virtual items that cannot be used by anyone else or bought or anything.

I have a hard time believing that galleries (compared to shops) are causing that much of a problem. Items aren't searched and transferred back and forth from galleries the way they are from shops, which has explained as being a massive server strain.

I personally don't have any collections of things I want to show off; everything I collect is for myself. So as long as vaults were given the same organization options as galleries currently have, I wouldn't mind them being done away with, personally. But I couldn't support them being removed just because there are so many people that DO have them in order to show their items off I just don't think it would help all that much to remove them. Vaults would almost have to be overhauled to make them useable for storage the way that galleries are, and shops would still have to be limited.

Galleries are what keep a lot of people interested in the site, myself included. It gives me something to work towards, keeps me excited for new item releases and sometimes I just like to look through it and tell myself 'look at what you've done so far' It shows what people like, I can look through my friends' galleries and give them something I know they'll enjoy. Just like in RL people like to collect things and have a certain place to put that collection, that is what galleries are here.

Why do you have all those trophies displayed on your profile? I can't buy those and you can't use them.

I like galleries though, I have a few. Seeing the items on lodge isn't nearly the same as showing off the items you want to display and show that you're proud of owning.

What about HAs? Right now you can't use the items I have on my HA, and you can't buy them since I'm not selling them. I'm showing them off though.

Tons of peoples hobbies are collecting items on the site and showing them off. Even if no one really sees them but the person creating it, it just keeps them going. Nothing wrong with that.

Totally different. HAs give you an identity. It's how people see you on every page you post on. Galleries are so hidden that people have to be looking specifically for one to see it.

I don't personally have any Galleries, but just because I don't spend the time or SP/CSC on them, doesn't mean that many others don't. Galleries mean a lot to a lot of people because of all the time and love and thought they put into them. Just like pets mean the same to others. I understand some might not get it, but just because you don't get it doesn't mean you should get rid of what others more than understand and are really attached to :/

If it was idead sarcasm, I'm agree with MBacon. It is sad if galleries become much less usefull or even useless because they are lemittet with the items. (I have said without sarcasm).

The answer for the ones who take the title of this topic litterly. No I don't support the idea to get rid of the galleries. Plain simple said.

Yeah, I very much doubt that will happen. People collect things for lots of different reasons. It's just like pet treasure chests. People put YEARS into these things.

Why stop here though ? Plushie, beanbag, card, pumpkin, etc, collections ? Stop, get rid of that stuff. No one sees them, you can't sell the items in them, you can't take them out. They're all completely useless now. Why do we feed our pets ? It just creates a new page of overstuffed stuff just sitting there taking up data ! We can just throw them into the resort. Cap the wardrobe, too. We don't wear that much stuff ! We only need like... 50 items at most because we can't really wear even that much at once. 100 if we have a GA. TCs ? SO pointless ! No one really looks at them even in profiles, they just read the stories and are done. And you can't use the items while they are sitting there, so they just take up space. Achievements, too. Man, what is the point in those ? You did something with some pixels, good for you !

Come to think of it, we can get rid of about 50% of the features on here because I, personally, don't use them, and see no point in them taking up any form of data.

In my opinion, galleries also give people an identity and a personality. Maybe you see me posting on a thread and want to know more about me, there's nothing about me posted on my profile. Going from the names of my galleries you can see I like Feli's and cats, gives you a topic to start talking to me about and get to know a little more about me.

We might even share an interest in collecting the same thing and form a friendship over it.

No support. In fact, I would rather see galleries be improved than removed. I have kind of one (small just to hold stuff I like, no theme), but I know that some people are VERY invested in theirs, and they deserve to keep them. And I agree with all the sarcastic points pointed out. There are plenty of things on site that are meant only for the user doing them, and galleries are just another one. Which is fine.

BIG difference. First, collections can only have ONE of each item while galleries can have multiples. That should be changed. Second, you can get achievements for filling up and completing collections while you can't for galleries. That should be changed. Finally, There are finite limits to all those collections while galleries aren't finite for some weird reason. That should be changed.
