Feels like I ALWAYS get him for the level 10 boss. He should be simple to beat at T4 from what I've read but I lose or tie on him half the time.
He just deals out so much physical and fire damage, I use things like Death/Fire Shards and OPB weapons/scrolls but I always run out, and I'm left with just Divine Denizen and weapons that block a few icons of damage but it's never enough compared to what he dishes out.
Is there a good infinite use weapon at T4 that can block his icon types? I came across do you think investing in one of those would help me?
Unfortunately there are not many weapons that are worth investing in for T4. I would check this board: ">https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/814371/The-Weapon-Guide/1/ for a list of T4 freezers that could help. A guaranteed 100% freezer will give you one free hit on your opponent. Other than that I would invest in shinwas temple shard and definitely a rainbow vortex for full blocking. I don't think at this tier the vortex is a full blocker but both are definitely items that you can keep using at higher tiers and they will still be very useful.
Other than that I would say keep reading cheap books to your pet and equip sancturia exodin scrolls that block both fire and phys. If you can't afford to make them, perilous whirlpools are good cheap options
I have a Gorgun for a guaranteed freezer and I've been using that (I also have Icy Freezing Rod which has a high freeze rate... dunno if it'd be worth it to equip both) Rainbow Vortex and STS both on my wishlist but I can't afford them right now, aren't they OPB weapons though? How much do RV even go for?
Also is Sancturia Exodin better than Cobalt Eternal?
I'm guessing the Bracer thing wouldn't be worth it? I was hoping for a reusable weapon is all, to be honest if it's under a few million I really would not mind investing in weapons that will serve me just for this tier
I don't believe you can equip gorgun and icy freezing rod at the same time.
RV are like 2k csc when they show up in the cash shop I believe? so they're probably around 200m or more. yeah they're both OPB.
Sancts are a lot like cobalts, but they have different icon types.
I'd save my money and not buy the bracer. there are much better things you can save your money for, and eventually you'll be able to beat him no problem just by more training.
what is your current weapon set?
Uhh I think against him I normally use (slightly different from my default)
and
I sometimes tried in place of one of the bomb items as well but it only blocks a little of his damage (Wind type)
may help out, but you may want to try a cheap t3 option of in place of your peridot shield, try a more offensive option. there aren't many good weapons for awhile that do both offense and defense unfortunately.
I have a Replica Minotaur Knocker in my default set, I was using it at first but it feels like the icon types it does are easily blocked by him. (At T4 it does 4 Physical/Dark/Earth/Light and his cannonballs block Physical, Dark Light and Fire) It does do decent healing but it wasn't doing it for me earlier, my stats have increased since then though so I could try it out again I guess.
I think offensive weapons I have right now that do more icons of damage are and but the Sword drains HP (I mainly use it for Daemon) and the Crossbow is semi breakable.
I think I was trying to go for weapons that did Earth or Wind since none of his weapons block them. (Peridot Shield + Malevolent Grimfruit I get 20 unblocked Earth icons on him... still less than he dishes out though)
he's annoying since I can't really test anything out on him right now Do you happen to know how much defense he has?
give the knocker a chance, I still wouldn't rule out the stinging gauntlet because it's kinda handy with a 15 heal each turn
Like said, if they are both labeled as freezers you can't equip both.
Yes the STS and RV are both OPB, but what makes the RV so worth it is it has a medium chance to freeze as well. Having both means you have to turns where no damage is dealt to you (unless it's a curse) and gives you a chance to heal or do whatever.
Again like said, SE and cobalt are the same except they block different icons. I know SE blocks fire and phys where cobalt blocks phys but not fire.
The minotaur knocker may be your best bet at this stage since it does provide some heal
Overall, scrolls are going to be your best defense. Try to end the battle quickly by freezing and dealing as much damage as possible with what you have. I can't test him out either as I have no weapons with this tier =/ I would mod the knocker with a parched baguette as that will add +2 fire and +2 water damage as well as a chance to prevent freezing. Pete doesn't freeze, but others will.
[edit] Oh! I just checked my armory and I do have a shear sword that I used against the forj with my at the time T5 pet and it has 3 mod slots! That might be good to have for the mods. It is a T4 weapon
He has 500 defense I think. According to a battle blog I found. I'll check again if I get him when I do my BQ's today.
I'll try the Parched Baguette, I had been wanting to use one but I was nervous trying to figure out what weapons to put them on. Angrybeard doesn't freeze, I think the only opponents at this level I've had a serious issue with freezing me are Daemon and Mechalag (in the latter's case mostly just because it adds even more turns to an already long and tedious battle)
I'll probably make a SE scroll then or maybe more than one. I actually didn't know you could equip more than one of the same scroll.
I have a Shear Sword, do you know how the attack boost it does works? I'm not sure if it boosts your strength up to 200 total (so it won't boost if it's already over 200) or up to 200 on top of what you already have.
Hm that's more str than you have? So his defense blocks the icons you fo pretty well then. If he doesn't freeze, singed baguettes are a lot cheaper than parched and provide 5 icons of damage and a curse proc.
If you are limited on funds or parched baguettes and are worried about what items to mod them on, Pete is definitely not the opponent to start with then. Unfortunately, blessings and curses are disabled against mechalag so they won't be useful against him either x.x I am so used to battling opponents that freeze that I mod every staple weapon with parched baguettes. Later on I think it would be more advantageous to go back and mod with the parched.
So long as you have the AP, you can equipped as many OPB scrolls as you want. It is the unlimited use scrolls like divine denizhen that you can only equip one each of (not that you would need more than one anyway)
I believe it doesn't boost past 200 strength? I really only have this sword because it is one of the few affordable weapons below tier 7 that deals water damage and has three mod slots. I really only created it for those reasons to fight the forj first stage. I was not interested in the boost advantage =x
For any of the weapons you decide to purchase in general I would say do not invest heavily in weapons that you only need for the low tiers now. You are at a point in training where you can quickly move up in tiers and will quickly out grow the low tier weapons. Better to save up for the more costly stuff that you will use for a lot longer later on and stick to a budget you feel comfortable with for items now.
Yeah, I only have 370-ish so he blocks me pretty good when I use the minotaur knocker-Only the Earth icons usually get through I think. Bottled Tornado hits him pretty good since he doesn't block Earth or Wind. Might get a singed baguette then. I will probably try a parched one for Daemon since her freeze is something to worry about.
Wait, what about Pete? I've never really had an issue with Pete, to be honest. I think Angrybeard is actually the only challenger at this stage I have serious difficulty with. (Unless you count Mama Mush being a level 15 boss, but I don't really think she's beatable at my tier at all so I usually save my skip for her)
It's good to know you can use more than one scroll then. I'll probably start equipping more. Just need to find some more books to read since I've run out of most of the common/cheap books at this point.
Dang, I had been using it on Mechalag hoping it would boost my strength and do more damage to him. It does sound useful for the mod slots though so I'll hang onto it.
Makes sense to save up for the more costly stuff. I still need to get me one of those tridents, seems like they're pretty elusive but apparently you can get them for completing a bobblehead collection or something? I have no idea how to collect bobbleheads, heh.
You can use blessing of natural armor tears, they also prevent freezing at the same rates but don't provide offense. you can get them with battle tokens pretty easily.
Oh, noted, I'm guessing there's no baguette version of that one?
Just got him again for Battle Quests, looks like I was right about his defense. His stats are
Health: 800 Strength: 650 Defense: 500 Speed: 500
Nope, but it has a 10% proc rate which is the same as parched. Blessing of natural armor also provides steal immunity and some defense with the blessing too.
You said you can beat angrybeard sometimes? Honestly that's probably pretty good for now, you may just need to get more stats to beat him more consistently.
That's true. I'm already noticing I can beat him more often now as long as he doesn't score any crits and I remember to equip a Death Shard before fighting him. Sometimes the UltimaPlus manages to steal his Cannonball too which actually works really well against him.
I think it's just a bit frustrating because I've gotten him at level 10 almost consistently for the past week and I'm usually wanting to get the BQ's done quickly.
He'll continue getting easier as you get stronger. That can be frustrating :p are the other level 10 bosses easier for you?
All the other level 10 bosses are crazy easy man. Like more like tier 1 or 2 difficulty, none of them even have stats above 200. Angrybeard seems to be the exception and for some reason he seems to love me.
(then again it seems to be a similar case with the level 15 challengers, usually don't get anything unbeatable at tier 4 but then there's Mama Mush)
