Hello! This is the dress I've been working on lately, and I got stuck in the shading process xD I have a very little idea on how to shade in Subeta's style, so shading tips are very appreciated :D 👍 Also, I'm not sure if I drew the lineart correctly, so any tips regarding lineart are appearictaed too!

heya! Do you have regular art as well? ;o Subeta used to enforce cell-shading more harshly but nowadays, ive seen some pretty soft shaded things that were accepted. Depending on your regular shading style, you may be able to apply just about the same onto cws but with a bit of touchups afterwards (:

One of the best ways is honestly to look at how cw dresses are drawn in general - where the shading/highlights fall, what is the general shape etc.

I usually use about 5 layers for shading personally!

LINEART

• highlights02 (usually a huge blob of soft color on the top left, to give a bit of depth/perspective)
• highlights01
• shadows03 (optional)
• shadows02
• shadows 01 BASE COLOR

which program do you use? ;o You can also open it with SAI if you have that (:

At the moment you are using two layers - base + shadow. You'll need a bit more for cws, but it's not like... 21312312 layers dont worry!
