I picked up the book So Big by Edna Ferber at a thrift shop, and found this: [X] inside. ...I cried.

The other day my aunt was clearing out her late mother's house and found the most interesting little journal. It was filled with absolutely beautiful little poems and strange drawings, some French writings, some English. It was fascinating and your post made me think of it. :)
