Nevermind this post. The post which was previously placed here included a concern of mine (referring to my avatar's items and clothing not staying attached). Since then I have successfully created my avatar to my liking. Thank you for your advice. :)

Are you clicking the checkbox in hopes it removes something? The checkbox just makes it invisible, it doesn't remove it from your avatar. You need to hit the X :)

I was finally able to make the items stay on. Thank you, everyone for your advice. :)
