I want to SUGGEST A type of Art post feature on site.

I feel like this was brought up before in a Keith video years ago, but Why dont we have ANYTHING for artists to post artwork anymore? is somebody working on this or did the SubetaTeam just give up on allowing us to have a mini Deviant Art/FurAffinity little space on site?

A long time ago, we did have an Oekaki on the site. From what I know, it's been fairly missed over the years. I don't know staff's reasoning behind removing it, but I wouldn't mind seeing it pop up again. I love art. C:

Along with the Oekaki there used to be an art gallery feature too.

I’m fairly sure both were removed cause they were broken + they wanted to define what subeta was better. Back in the days we had journals, art galleries, oekaki... The site was all over the place and there was so many ‘pseudo-features’ that other site did better. The focus has shifted to pets/HA in the past 5 or so years, and all features that don’t have to do with this directly were removed.

I personally think subeta should keep focusing on pets/HA. Spending time on an art gallery feature seems counter productive for a site that is still somewhat struggling to find a focus. There’s a lot of much better alternative out there for artists who want to show off their work (DA, FA, Weasyl, tumblr, personal portfolio, BeHance ...) I don’t think it’s a feature that would make much sens to have here.

I kinda miss the journal feature... I never used them when they were around but now I'm like "wow, this random thought I had would go great in a journal!"

But I agree with this. Subeta staff has enough on their various plates to program and maintain something new, and it would likely be something that would have to be moderated as well, all those images would slow things down, etc. If you want to show off your art, there are plenty of places online to do it whose focus is entirely art-based. You can put links to your various galleries in your forum sig or on your profile (or both). People will click on it... I click on those links sometimes myself.

The little personal galleries were cute and one of the key features that drew me to Subeta at the time, but I do think the site is better off without it. Considering all the more users the site had at the time, there was a lot of art theft and errors. It would be difficult for staff to police something like that on top of their other duties. If it was a popular feature it could potentially be very hard on the servers too.

If you really wanted a place on Subeta to show off your work, you could make your own topic in the Art Discussion forum or you could reply to the What Have You Drawn Today board.
