I discovered something today that now I know it makes perfect sense and I wonder how I had never realised before. I am sure there are a lot of people like me and this is for them.

The ping group only forums are not private.

How so? Because every post you make there appears in your recent posts where anyone can read it.

Many people may say 'well duh yeah' but I was quite horrified by this revelation because it had never crossed my mind that other people could read them.

I have started a suggestion thread about this here, please feel free to add your ideas.

Do ping whoever you like here as I'm sure there must be more people out there who haven't realised this.

As far as I can tell, the only thing on Subeta that is private is sMail.

Thank you. I dont post much in any forum groups, but like i didnt know this. I knew you could look yourself up but not anyone else. It will be good know.

Huh, I didn't realize that either. I just figured they were, since getting accidentally pinged to a private group gives you the 'you can't sit here' type message. :/

This really upsets me. "Just because you could doesn't mean that you should." but some people have no respect for privacy.

Forums are public, so I would guess that forum pings wouldn't be that private either. But even sMail can be forwarded and shared and staff can see it. Privacy is on skype. Maybe. :/

I've learned, only the unspoken thoughts in your head are private. Anytime, you say something or post something, it's already been shared.
